Question about Gateway 7330GZ Notebook

1 Answer

Backlight problem Backlight goes out after a couple of mins. Reboots fine, everything else works. Only stays on for a couple of mins then just the backlight goes out. Same problem as described here but with a gateway 15" laptop.. I am sending the computer out to Gateway to get fixed and will report what exactly the problem was if I can get that info out of Gateway. Am sending it out today by way of DHL shipping from MO to TX. The entire ride should take about 3 weeks.... But as I said I will try to give a complete explanation when it returns.

My totaline thermostat model #p474-0100-a the backlight is staying on and when the furance is running after only a couple of minutes it shuts off and my furance shuts down .

Multiple issues that are not related. If the pilot light goes out then the thermocouple might be bad. If the pilot ignites the gas and everything shuts off, it sounds like the over temperature sensors are detecting heat in excess of what is allowed in the firebox. The thermostat issue has nothing to do with this.

My screen has a pinkish overtone, when I restart everything looks normal for a few seconds after I log into my name and then it goes red again. Everything works fine, but it pretty much hurts my eyes.

That means the backlight on your LCD display is on its last legs. I say that but I have had laptops with the pink screen that lasted like that for over a year. Or, it might go dark tomorrow. It is not the inverter, which is an easy fix. Only a replacement of the backlight (a flourescent tube built into the display panel) will fix it. So Replace the backlight at repair shops...THANK YOU

I am having problems with my Westinghouse LCD TV. When i 1st turn it on, everything is fine but after a couple minutes I lose picture. The audio is fine and continues on. I unplug the tv from the outlet...

No quick fixes. A component such as a capacitor is heating up and failing. Sometimes a cracked solder connection will work fine until it heats up and no longer sustains the connection.

When the screen goes off, shine a very bright flashlight at the screen to see if the image is still there. In many cases, the problem is the screen backlight, which consists of several CCFL tubes (fluorescent lamps) and a circuit board called the inverter (similar to a lamp ballast).

If the image is there, but the backlight is off, then you just may need a new inverter board.

No display on screen

It's either the backlight lamp or screen inverter is busted. Here's how to determine which is which:
  1. Grab a flashlight.
  2. Boot up.
  3. Shine the flashlight onto the screen.
  4. If you cannot see any display even a faint one, the screen inverter is dead, else the backlight lamps are busted.
  5. Replace which ever is the culprit.

Backlight problem

if this is a new laptop, then I am guessing you are using it on battery, and you may have some power save setting turned on that is dimming the screen...

Take a look at your power settings under control panel...
