Question about Vacuums
Repair Kit for Edwards E2M5 vacuum pump does not give detailed instructions to ''overhaul'' pump. (http://www.capvac.com/store/item.aspx?departmentid=210&ItemId=86) Brief and useless instructions were... ''replace numbered parts from kit using exploded diagram view.'' No details of clearance, fastener torque, alignment, etc. I was unable to locate detailed overhaul instructions using Google, ASK or BING. Will go ahead in next few days with repair. If repair fails, will return for costly over-haul.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I'm assuming you mean the fan impeller and not the fan that cools the motor...
you can find detailed instructions at this site
hope this helps!

There are 2 tabs that stick out on the release, they fit in slots, so from the top look down and you can see them, using a flatblade screwdriver that will fit in there, push the side in to release it, which isn't easy, but it can be done. When you get the old one out, then the new one, push down on it until it locks into place.

Open the vac by removing 3 screws below the handle area and the long screw at the bottom of the cone. If the motor has been removed, you will have 2 motor leads , 2 power head socket leads, and 2 switch leads as well as the cord. Do not twist your wires first when pairing, twist with the wire nut ony and tape afterword as there is metal nearby in the housing area
1 side of the cord goes to the switch only. The opposite side of the switch will go to 1 of each of the motor and Socket. The remaining motor and socket leads pair with the remaining cord lead.
While you are in there change the round filter dic covering the front of the motor and you could change the foam/ felt wrap around the inside of the housing.
There is a insulating disc at the top of the motor to prevent shock between motor and screen. Do not remove it.
