Question about Optoma HD65 DLP Projector

1 Answer

Optoma HD 65 projector, fine last night, today it wouldnt turn on with a light flashing. so i turned it off at the mains and back on again, the image was upside down (i have it hanging on my ceiling upside down so i presume its gone back to some sort of factory setting) it said something (upside down didnt have chance to read) before turning itself off and now two lights are flashing, what do i do?

Have now realised its a fan fail... says its locked... anyway to fix it without sending it away?

  • easynowmissa Jun 06, 2010

It said something about returing it to optoma because of the fan. so i shook it gently and hoovered it and it was fine. i think maybe some dust blocked it or something! touchy! thank you for responding though.

It did do a reset on the settings. The lights do indicate something if you look at the trouble shooting section in your manual. Need to know what lights are on and what is blinking this is a feedback to you. how long ago did you clean your filter. is the lamp needing to be replaced?

My HD 65 keeps flashing green.. I turned the high altitude on and it stopped.. But it's now starting again.. There is only 480 hrs used. What to do??????

From what I've read, flashing colors could mean dust on the color wheel. Try removing the lamp and blowing air on the color wheel. Also if using the red, blue, green cables check to make sure the red is in tight.

Only power light will power on for few seconds then flashes.

Does the main lamp light at all? It sounds light a cooling fan failure. If the fan iis not working the the main lamp will not turn on and the power light will flash.

Vertical white line

My EP719 had the same problem. Did it once, briefly, soon after I bought it, then not again until recently, when the line came back more frequently and wider.

The projector was 20 days past warranty, and the company would not honor. So much for customer satisfaction and loyalty. Last piece of Optoma equipment I will ever buy!

Anyway, I found a web item on another model of Optoma projector with the same problem. The solution this guy tried was -- I kid you not -- rapping on the thing. With nothing to lose, I tried this on mine. Tapped lightly on the top and noticed a change in the width of the line. Hmmm ... it was sensitive to this.

Tapped harder. The line got narrower. Rapped pretty hard -- thump! -- and the line disappeared.

Since then I have been running the projector for hours, turning it on and off, letting it cool down, starting it up again. And the line seems to be gone. It may come back, of course, so this gonzo fix may not be permament. But if it works while I'm using it at a presentation, think of the amusement it will cause!
