Question about Dewalt DW788 Heavy Duty 20" Variable Speed Scroll Saw: DW7881 Worklight

1 Answer

I have a dewalt 788 scrollsaw. I use spiral blades most of the time. I got a new blade chuck for it and all it does is bend the blades. dewalt says they never heard of it, but sent me another chuck and it does the same. I change the screws, no change. I took it to a tool shop and that was a waste of time. i have been down for two months and cant solve the problem, can you help?

It speeds up slows down all by it self while sawing speed set at 6.

This sounds like the motor may have an issue or the speed control trigger switch.

How can I cut wood 3.5 inches thick with Dewalt Scroll saw?

nope... throat on scroll saw is of fixed height... beside, all scrollsaw blades are of fixed length, i would suggest use of bandsaw with very narrow blade with minimal kerf. do not use pressure on the blade! you will then have same cut through the thickness of the wood! setup bandsaw correctly, do not overtension it - see my other instructables pertaining to the bandsaw and regulation/setup of it

if you find my solution helpful - do not me shy... give some points... :-)

I bought a Dewalt DW310 reciprocating saw and there seems to be no way to install a blade. The instructions show a wheel to turn to unlock the blade chuck but the wheel is up inside the saw body where you...

The blade clamp collar is a spring loaded knob of sorts that holds the blade in place. If you are not able to pull the blade shaft out of the saw to get at it, plug the saw in and hit the on/off trigger a few times to get the shaft and knob out of the body of the saw. Once you can get at the knob it should be easy to turn it and insert a new blade. Let me know if you have problems.

Reciprocating saw problems cannot get broken blade out of chuck

Hi,
Getting a broken blade our of the sawzall chuck can be difficult and require some ingenuity and patience...
Sometimes there be enough blade left so that you can grab it with a needle nose pliers... othertimes it is flush and that makes it more difficult... holding the chuck in the release position and rapping the saw against a table or with a hammer can jiggle the piece out....of course you have the chuck pointed down while you do that...
Also moving the piece around a bit with a stiff wire and also soaking the chuck and blade with WD-40 helps also....
Usually it will take a combination of these things and some persistance to get the job done...
