Make sure that you clean out all vent holes behind set. My own dlp has shut off from poor air circulation due to dust and debris in the air. The cooling fans must have good circulation or the set has tempurature sensors to shut it off. Use a brush or vacuum on all the small vent holes around the set. Also, alot of these sets have filters that clog up. Check the owner's manual or look for a small door where a filter could be around the base of the unit. If this doesn't solve the problem you need a service person to check it out for you. Good luck, Russmann.

Tv keeps turning off

If you can keep it on long enough, try changing the power-off sleep timer (via the remote control menu) to the highest setting (most modern TVs have this). It could be a component overheating or over voltaging in the power supply (I assume it's internal) so check for burny smells.

A little more info is needed to give a proper reply.
Plasma TV's run higher voltage and can problems in their power supplies due to bad solder connections or overheated filter capacitors.
LCD/LED TV's use lower voltage but can also have problems in their power supplies due to overheated filter capacitors.

TV comes on, but shuts off after 3 minutes. I must wait at least 5 minutes to get it to turn back on again. TV will ONLY stay on if DVD drawer is OPEN!

dvd is overheating its circuit. Keep the tray open to dry up condensation. then leave TV on standby to keep moisture out.

My sony bravia keeps shutting off an lines on side of it

is it possibly overheating. Tv's like humans need a rest period. If the Tv is always on, it could be overheating. I know some laptops will auto-shut off because overheating. If it is close to a wall, try moving it away to see if that helps. Also, make sure it is not near any liquid source as this may cause short outs...hope this helps.. best of luck

it may be due to overheating, ensure proper ventilation, clean the ventilation grill, may be the psu is not functioning properly and being over heated, if the tv starts normally after few mins then its the case of overheating.

Keeps turning itself off. Reckon its an overheating issue.

LCD TV turning itself off is not necessarily overheating.
Often, because of a faulty component, capacitors can accumulate electrostatic charge until an error is detected, or a fault condition can last for a while, until a problem is detected, and the protection circuit will force the TV to shutdown.
The only temp sensor that can shut down because of overheating is placed on the main board, and TV shutdown after a while is often not caused by overheating on LCDs.
Parts that often cause shutdown after a time are Power Supply Unit, Inverter, and main controller board. Parts must be tested to find the fault. The technician can follow the diagrams detailed on service manual to find the fault.
Regards.

The power button

This typically means that one or all the cooling fans inside the TV are not coming on. This is a safety feature to keep the TV from overheating and doing more severe damage.
