click on internet explorer and the in the search bar type in a www. address that you want and the web page will come up or just type in something like wheels for a car and you will get plenty of web pages to visit
if you want a particular browser such as google chrome or firefiox just type that in the search bar when you enter internet explorer and when comes up click on make this my default browser

Does it happen only when you are using the internet? If so then try re-installing your web browser (try Chrome or Mozilla Firefox). If the problem persists then reinstall windows 7 and update all your drivers.
I had the same prob when i installed a fresh copy of xp on my friends computer
the laptop was only running internet explorer 6 and service pack 1
after wasting severall hrs googling reasons why i ended up
downloading service pack 3 onto a pendrive then loaded it onto the laptop and that seemed to do the trick as i believe that service pack 3 has internet explorer 8 on it as well as other important updates
Hit the 'ALT' key on your keyboard, at the top click 'VIEW' then Toolbars > and make sure 'Status Bar' is checked, assuming this is for Internet Explorer.
