Question about Car Audio Receivers

1 Answer

Wire radio installing factory radio in 1982 300SD (mercedes). The exsisting wires are chopped up. The radio I have is for this car and has the connectors for it still pluged into it with enough wire to make the splices. The problem is things don't seem right, that is the wire guages are different and at the car end of the wires there are two wires of the same color when I only need one to go to the radio. This situation is true for about 3 sets of wires. I need to see a schematic of this area.

When I foud out you wanted money I went to " JUST ASK " site. I don't mind paying, but I do mind being tricked ! You wasted my time and yours by misleading me to believe this service is free. Oh ya, if I want to wait for who knows how long to get an answer that I can't trust, it's free. In that case your still wrong because you say get answers from an expert but you don't say it will cost you until time and effort has been given on the part of the sincere customer. If you were honest in the begining fefore I took the time to type out the problem (instead of tricking me) I would have tried you out. I also believe that when a company does business this way it's a representative of the founder. (DISHONEST)

What is the wiring diagram on a kenwood cd player? i unhooked stock stereo in 93 pontiac sunbird cut all the wiring and cant figure the wires out on cd player

Scroll down to page 15 on this link i gave you. If you removed the factory stereo, don't throw away the connector that plugs in to the back of the factory radio. Go to wal mart or any car audio install shop and buy yourself the wiring harness for your particular model car and year, it will definitely save you a headache due to the fact that some car wiring systems are wired differently and are somewhat complicated at times. http://manual.kenwood.com/files/B64-3691-00_00.pdf

The wires in my 1993 ford taurus have different color wires than my new radio

I would get a wiring harness adapter for your car. You can wire your stereo to the harness and then plug it into the car's exsisting plug.

it is easier to go to your local car spares shop, and get the leads that are available for nissans and sony stereos. they plug in behind the dash, and straight into the stereo. no chopping wires and quite cheap to buy

How do I install a JVC KD-G140 car cd deck

You  are not in over your head. You just need to make sure you pay close attention to detail when connecting the wires.
First thing to do:  Go to a place that installs car stereos and tell them you need the complete install kit including the wiring harness adaptor. Most all of these places will sell them to you. It is what they use to install the radio. They must know what type of car you are putting it in. Give the the mjake and model and year. They will then give you a bag full of plastic parts and another small bag with a wiring harness. MAKE SURE you get both. You really do need them. The plastic parts are for mounting the radio in the car properly. Without it, you will have something sloppy and it will not look right. It should have instructions. The kit will usually be able to be used for several different models of cars and any model of radio. You must pick which part is right for your car and radio. As I stated, it will have instructions.
Next, after you have the plastic mounting parts picked out for your radio, you will need the wiring harness for your radio and the wiring harness adaptor that you just purchased. The wiring is easy, just match the colors from the harness of your radio, to the same colors on the adaptor harness. Make sure that the wires are stripped properly and they are twisted together properly (or use small wire nuts or crimping type if connectors). Connect red wire to red wire, yellow wire to yellow wire, black wire to black wire, and son on until all wires are connected. Then for extra safety wrap each wire with some black electrical tape to ensure that if a pair if wires came loose somehow that they would not touch anything and short out causing the radio to need service.
Now you just plug the proper end  of the harness into the radio and the other end into the harness in the car that the factory radio was plugged in to. Make sure to plug in the antenna as well. Make sure the cage that the radio is  in is secure in the plastic mounting brackets you have purchased. Then the radio will go right into place and the bracket will screw in where the factory radio used to be screwed into.
If you need more help, just ask.

Radio comes on but i cant hear any music

You may be connecting this stereo into an amplified system. If the original factory stereo worked with the factory amplifier, your stereo is not turning the amplifier on. If you purchased the aftermarket wire harness that mates to the factory stereo connector, hook up the "Amplifier Trigger" wire, this wire is usually blue.

Mercedes

There are two key slots in the bottom left and right of the factory radio.  You will need two keys to release the radio from the dashboard.  There is no other way to do this.  Once the keys are in, the radio will slide out without you having to remove any other component in the car.  If you go to the dealer, they will charge you plenty.  Go to one of the smaller, technician owned shops and they will take it out for you for $10.
