Question about Plumbing
You have to first turn off the water to the whole house and open a faucet upstairs and downstairs to properly drain down your pipes (less messy).
Take the handle off with an allen key (hex). Undo the 2 screws that hold the faceplate on and it will slide off with the sleave. You will find a brass valve body with a lock ring which screws off by hand. It may be tight for half a turn and should then spin off. If it remains tight you still have pressure behind it and are about to get wet (go make sure the water is off and drained). The cartrgidge should just slide out, if tight give it a turn and it will pop out. Take it to any hardware store and get a new one (many stores give replacements for free if you give them the cartridge). The cartridge will be set to a low temp for safety and you may want it to be hotter. The adjustment is on the front of the valve. Look for the little notches on top of the cartridge to adjust.
Also note that one side of the cartridge says "hot side" on it. Take a look in the valve body for debrise that may cause the same problem. Now just replace all the parts and enjoy.
