Question about Heating & Cooling
My 5 year old Friedrich SS12J10AR-B seems to be working normally, however it's making a noise I've never heard before. It's a subtle 'clanking' sound, similar to the sound a diesel engine in a car makes.
Does this give any clue whatsoever to what, if anything, might be wrong?
It sounds like the fan blade is hitting something. Turn the unit off and make a visual inspection inside the unit. With the unit unplugged, turn the fan blade manually with your hand to determine the source of the obstruction and correct. Something may have rusted and come loose inside......or some wires may have come loose. It will require a visual inspection.
I hope you find this to be very helpful to you moving forward.
