Ok basically what u want to do is open the battery up. wedge a small screwdriver into the crack in the battery. BE VERY CAREFUL! could cause a leak or something. ok when its open, wedge the battery itself out of the casing. you should see a circuit board on one of the smaller sides. the smaller microchip has 8 pins. lift the 4th pin on the right side off the circuit board. be sure u only do this to the one pin. then put your battery back together and try it. it should boot into service mode, where if u foind something about memory, you should be able to unbrick your psp.

there are also many videos on youtube on how to do this.
by the way, there is no way to undo this so buy a new battery b4 you attempt this. GOOD LUCK!

I wish can download and playing games on my psp 3005. would u help what kind of game file, where to save it, or what should I do? please n thanks a lot.

Unfortunately, you can't. Downloading games onto a PSP requires custom firmware, which cannot be installed onto PSP-2000's with a TA088V3 motherboard, and cannot be installed to ALL 3000 series PSPs. The problem lies in the way the board is built, and if you attempt to install custom firmware, you will irreversibly "brick" it. If you don't believe me, check the rest of the internet, they will tell you the same thing. Also, you cannot install custom firmware if your current firmware is above version 5.03, unless you have a Pandora's battery, or a Datel battery tool. If you want to download games, then buy a psp-1000 series. i sold my slim and replaced the screen on my old 1000, and now i'm playing grand theft auto without a disk:) Otherwise, the only way to do that on a 3000 would be to buy it off of PSN, but i have never done that. Leave a comment if you get a 1000 and want to put custom firmware on it..

My psp does not work

Unfortunately, you were very stupid in doing what you did! You have "Bricked" your PSP. When it is updating, it is messing with the built in flash memory in the PSP. Normally it is OK, because it is designed to do it, but you stopped it Half-way through, so some important files are missing, and the rest are mixed between two, different firmwares. To fix it you need to "Un-brick" it. This Process is the same as the one for Installing Custom Firmware. You need to buy a Pandora's Battery kit. This kit is a memory stick and a Pandora's battery. The battery makes the PSP boot from the memory stick, which allows you to delete the internal flash memory, and then install the Firmware again. "Datel" are the best people to get the Battery from, and you can choose where to get the (Pandora) memory stick from. You can make both of them, but I wouldn't recommend making the battery, because it is quite risky and could damage your PSP. This is a good one "http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pandora-Battery-PRE-CONFIGURED-DUMMIES-Internet/dp/B002MR7COQ/ref=dp_cp_ob_vg_h__title_2 If you don't go for this one, make sure you get the right one for your PSP don't make the mistake of buying the cheaper, PSP phat battery, because it doesn't work! Good Luck!

Its called a BRICK you need to send it to sony to fix it or buy a pandoras battery, google "psp Brick" too see what it is and what your options are.

Please dont rate as :thanks for trying: cause its the truth i know cause i have a pandoras battery and ive bricked mine many times and its the only way to fix it besides sending it in to be repaired.

PSP light flashes but doesn't turn on.

its bricked. that means that your psp's memory is locked up. what you can do is make a pandora battery. this puts the psp into service mode, and allows you to un-brick the psp. there are two ways to do this. 1: buy a service battery by datel which is located here http://www.gp2xstore.com/Datel_Battery_Slim_PSP_Tool_Pandoras_Battery_p/049.htm

or 2. contact me for instructions on how to make your own custom pandora battery
