Question about Kenmore Elite 22.4 cu. ft. Bottom Freezer Refrigerator with Adjusta Cube Ice Maker
HI. Seems to be some sort of air flow issue here. You will need to inspect for proper evaporator functions at the evaporator. The evaporator fan may have failed, in this case, or the evaporator core has become frozen, due to a failed defrosting assembly, thus, jamming the fan blade. The evaporator fan is responsible for moving airflow throughout the unit, via damper assembly. The damper directs the flow to your refrigerator, an is controlled by temp sensors and temp controller devices.
You can access the evaporator for proper inspection by removing all contents from the unit(freezer section). Once this is done, there will be an concealment panel on the inside of the freezer compartment that will need to be removed. Once removed, the evaporator and fan can be accessed for proper inspection. If you notice a considerable amount of ice on the evaporator core, this will be the culprit.
Now, it the evaporator shows no sign of damage and there is proper evaporator fan function, move onto the the condenser coils.
The condenser coils dissipate heat. If dust and debris accumulate around the coils, your refrigerator may not be able to cool properly, it may run continuously or it may stop completely as a result of an overheated compressor. You should clean rear-mounted coils once a year. (For rear-mounted coils) - Unplug the refrigerator before cleaning. Refrigerators are heavy, never tip one forward or backward. Never attempt to move a refrigerator without an assistant. Vacuum or brush the coils. If coils have a filmy build-up, use warm soapy water to clean them. Take care not to spill or drip water onto the components of the refrigerator. You should clean floor level coils at least twice a year. (For floor mounted coils) - Unplug the refrigerator before cleaning. Vacuum or brush the coils. Remove the grill from the front of the refrigerator and use a vacuum with a wand attachment to remove any dust and debris. The grill should snap off and on. Pull firmly toward you and possibly upward to remove the grill. If it does not come off with a modest effort, check for screws or retaining clips that may hold it in place.
In order to provide proper diagrams for DIY, I will need the entire model number of this unit. This will allow me to post proper PDF files(exploded diagrams) for your convenience.
