SOURCE: the spinning brushes mechanism won't spin.

With the machine switched off, press the re-set switch on the side of the head, making sure you push the button in as far as you can. When you switch the machine back on and lower it into the vacuuming position, the brush bar should start turning. --------The brushes don't spin if the unit is placed upright. First off check that you haven't pressed the button that turns the brush on and off.-- But if that is turned ON.Then the other possibility can be clogged brush with dirt. take a look at the brush bar to see how much hair and debris is caught in there. If there is very little then you probably don't have much to worry about and you can press the brush reset bar on the side of the vacuums head and your problem with they Dyson brush not turning can be fixed. Also check the be belt and the motor. If belt is got loose, then motor will spin but brush will not spin, due to loose or worn out belt.If belt is intact, but motor is not spinning, then its weak motor issue. If motor is the issue, then to replace and repair the motor. Please click the link below:---- http://dysonmedic.co.uk/dyson-dc24-brush-bar-motor/ ------------- The operating instruction for dc-24 and dc-25 are near to same.So if you require disassembly instructions. Please click this link below and see the video. This will help, for disassembly:--- http://www.videojug.com/film/loss-of-suction-dyson-dc25 ---------------- This should help, thanks.Helpmech.

I have used my dyson dc39 perhaps a dozen times tops and the brush bar won't stay spinning. I've stood it upright and turned it off, clicked the brush power button. Spins then stop-makes pop sound.

If it's like my DC-07, the brush shouldn't spin if it's upright, and also won't spin if you don't have the clutch for the brush fully engaged. Make sure that the back of the unit is tilted off of the fully upright position, and check that the brush clutch is all the way engaged - there may seem to be a middle setting, but that isn't really where you want to be. Hoping that helps.

Brush won`t spin on brand new vacuum

Hi! Many of our vacuums include a brushroll shut-off feature that needs to be activated in order for the brushes to spin. The brushroll shut-off pedal is usually located on the right side of the cleaner on the hood. Your instruction manual will show you exactly where your brushroll shut off pedal/button is located if your vacuum has this feature. Also, on many models the brushes will not spin when locked in the upright position. The handle must be reclined for the brushes to spin. Hope this helps!

Troubleshooting

Hi Janet. Thank you for asking this question. Your vacuum wasn't designed with a brush on/off switch so having the brush continually spin is normal for your vacuum.

The brushes won't spin. I put new brushes on and it still doesn't spin.

Usually when the brushes won't turn it is due to a bad turbine. Insert a screwdriver into the square hole that the pin on the brush fits into, and see if it turns. If it is seized up, the turbine assembly will need to be replaced.

Sounds like the belt has been stretched. Check the belt and see if the tension is ok. You should be able to view the belt after removing the sole plate. If the belt is loose you need to replace it.

The reason for the brushes to stop when it is above any surface is there is a switch in the handle that stops the brushes so it dont burn your motor up it may have a faulty switch.
