Question about Weber Q Grill

1 Answer

My Weber 3 burner gas grill is about 15 years old and still working well. It has wooden slats that I've replaced and wooden handle which I've restained with redwood stain. The one thing that I'm not certain on how to handle is the corrosion or white discoloration on the exterior of the lower cooking case (not the lid). ANy suggestions on making that look better?

Many places (K-Mart/Target) sell a high temp black paint specifically made for grills. You might try wire brushing it and repainting it.

I have a weber gas grill, it's about ten years old and I need new burners, I cant find any model #s on it. Where do I look?

The easiest thing to do would look at the design type of burner that you have. Then search with keyword terms such as "Weber gas/propane grill burner" and eventually you will find a compatible match. Most of them are universal, and labeled designs such as an H burner...for it's shape.
Make sure however that if you decide on a non-weber built burner that it is in fact listed in it's details to fit on a weber grill, as some manufacturers may have a certain proprietary design difference that only their components will work with.

You need to completely change the grill because it's been there for over 15years and alot of rust and linkages will after affected the grill from working properly well. The best bet is to get a new grill.

I need a replacement handle

I had to replace all the wood on my grill. I used a wooden clothes dowel rod for the lid handle (planed one side flat, routed a grove for the insert and kept the old wooden insert), replaced the shelves with 5 in. redwood fencing slats (2 per side works better than the original 3 in. slats), and used a smaller dowel for the bin handle. It is now better than new.

My Weber gas grill is less than a year old. The

gas regulator make sure all burners are off when you connect bottle... the units have a leak sensor and will stop the gas coming out because it thinks you have a leak when you connected the bottle. now try hooking up the bottle again with all the burners closed incl. the side burner and the infa red. It will work o.k. then

Rear Burner is hotter than the front burner on my Weber Grill

Since the grill is 15 years old, it is probably time to rebuild it. Replace both burners and anything else that is not working properly

My Weber Genesis is 11 years old

Before you go replacing things check them out. If the burner is in poor shape (holes that are rusted out) it needs replaced. You also need to replace the ventura tubes or at least clean them out. One little spider web will cause a lot of problems on a grill burner. You also need to check and see if your regulator is working at the proper pressure

Ignite prob

You've got two different things going on.  First - the type of igniter used on your model does wear.  I have had mine for over 10 years and have gone through 3 such igniters - and I grill nearly 3 times per week over the 25 week "grilling" season where I live. Spring for the $12 part and just replace it. The other issue sounds like a clogged cross-over system.  I would remove the burners, including the cross-over bar on the far left side that connects them.  Clean the exterior with a stiff steel/brass brush and the inside with a bottle brush.  Make sure all the holes are clear to allow gas to flow easily - use a wooden tooth-pick to do this to make sure you don't change the size of the holes! Put that baby back together and I think you'll find you'll be good as new!
These grills are great.  Now, if Weber could only fix the uneven heat problem between the left and right side I'd REALLY be happy!  (I wish they would even just admit there IS a problem!)
Good luck and happy grilling.
