Hi there,
There is no monochrome parameter in the D50 as oppose to the D200. You will have to convert using software.
Hope this helps.

How do I set my Nikon D3200 to take black and white photos

Set the picture control to Monochrome. See page 76 of the manual: http://cdn-10.nikon-cdn.com/pdf/manuals/dslr/D3200_EN.pdf

In general you're better off shooting in color and converting later on a computer, where you have much more control over contrast, brightness, and other factors.

How to reset shutter count on nikon dslr

Why do you want to reset the shutter count? Are you trying to put one over on a buyer? The shutter count is set to zero at the factory in the camera's firmware. Unless you have access to Nikon's program and the knowledge and equipment to flash it to new ROM (Read Only Memory), you are out of luck.

How do you make the ML-L3 wireless remote controller for Nikon D7000 work?

Press the release mode dial lock release and turn the release mode dial to the remote control position.

Full details are in the "Release Mode" section of the manual (page 77 in my copy).

I have a Nikon D50 DSLR camera. I am on vacation

R12 is not an error message, it is a normal message, in fact telling you that the camera has a 12 photo bufffer that stores the pictures as they are written to the memory card. What is most likely happening is that the camera is not able to write to the SD card. Are you using a genuine, non counterfeit memory card? There are a lot of them about,- especially from vendors on the internet selling them for 'too good to be true' prices.

I have a Nikon D50 DSLR. I want to connect my camera with a HDMI cable to display my photos. What cable do I use and where do I plug it in?

The D50 only has an Analogue Video Out on it it does NOT have a HDMI Cable outlet like some of the newer Nikon Cameras like the D 300 or D300s for example. So you can only plug the camera into your television via the supplied Video cable (with yellow end). The small mini jack end goes into the left side of the camera under the rubberized flap and the larger end goes into a standard RCA Jack for video in on your TV set.

Refer to page 58 of the user manual for diagrams and more detail.

The shutter remains closed on a DSLR until you take a picture. There is no way to preview an image that does not exist yet.

Being stuck with the tiny viewfinder as earlier cameras had is a good thing. Holding a camera out from your body will give mixed results due to your movements. You will get better results with the traditional method

Nikon D50 LCD Display does not work

NatD, The D50 and indeed most SLR digital cameras [ I have a D40 ] does not allow you to take pictures using the LCD display ... this is by design, you are meant to use the viewfinder and the image you see through it is straight through the lens via a mirror block [ called a reflex pentamirror or prism ]. When the mirror is down such that you can see the image in the viewfinder it is obscuring the sensor [ the bit that takes the picture ] and when you take a shot the mirror lifts and the picture is recorded. Its this reason that DSLR's dont use the LCD to shoot, however there are a few now available that do let you do this, such as olympus, new panasonic one and higher end Nikon and Canon cameras. Hope this explains it without getting too detailed!
