Question about Dryers

1 Answer

Regarding a Maytag Perfoma Dryer Model PYE4500AYW revision 10 with Serial 10707540ZW the unit works fine, heating ok, timer ok noise ok, but there is a strange smell inside the drum after the unit stops cycling with the door open. The smell does not transfer to the clothes. What could cause the smell? The smell lessens after a few days of not using the dryer. No sign of smoke. Les.

The smell could be fabric and resembles a mild hint of old eggs or perhaps a vent problem.

Ok, sounds like this will be an obstructed ventilation system.

Check the vent for proper air flow by placing your hand over the exterior vent while the dryer is running. You should feel a strong flow of air. If you feel no air or the flow is weak, this will be the culprit. the backed up lint is overheating, therefore, inducing the smell. In this case, i would recommend to have the entire ventilation system cleaned, thoroughly. This will include the vent hose, blower assembly, lint trap and screen, and exhaust cavity. Also check to be sure that the hose is not bent or kinked and causing a blockage, as well.

Hi, my Maytag Perfoma PYE/G200 doesn't dry the clothes in one cycle. It usually takes 2 cycles to get damp dry. Also, the dryer sometimes won't start unless it has been sitting for 10 or 15 minutes and...

Hi,

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have nottaken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then youneed to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should takeplace. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causesfor your dryer to fail.

Maytag Performa Dryer Mod PYE4500AYW Has power but will not start

check your door switch. if it is ok, get this kit part number LA-1053. This is a very common solution for this dryer. the thermostat fix kit will contain a thermostat and two other parts....one is for gas and the other is for electric. just read the instructions and you will know what one is for your dryer. these parts can be accessed by lifting the lid and looking to the rear of the cabinet past the drum. MAKE SURE TO UNPLUG THE DRYER FIRST

You really need a volt / ohm meter to check for Continuity & VoltsIts well worth the investment... $15.00 bucks give or take a few

I would check to see if you have 220v to back of dryer where the cord mounts to dryer,

If dryer is getting only 1 leg 110 volts instead of the 220 will it not heat.

Check themostates & heater for Continuity... Most models, Now have a.. Hi-limit fuses that need to be checked for Continuity they have to be replaced
