Question about Panasonic DMR-EH75VS DVD Recorder/VCR/HDD Recorder

Panasonic DMR-EH75V DVD Recorder

I’ve had my Panasonic DMR-EH75V DVD recorder for just over a year & just love it, my manufacturer warranty just ran out but I did purchase a 3 yr extension through Best Buy. My DVD recorder crashed after trying to record media off the hard drive at 99 % complete. It won’t recognize a re-recordable or store bought DVD Movie. It says bad DVD or last recording not complete. I’ve went through every restore option available in the instructions with no avail. Best Buy shipped it off to Panasonic and was returned as defective & can’t be fixed. Looking at It, I would say that it was never opened to attempt repair & Best Buy says that system is no longer made, no hard drive recorders with DVD burners are available anywhere due to copyright material that could be possibly recorded. They wanted me to return it for a refund less my manufacturer warranty. I chose to keep it due to the fact that everything else works beautiful especially the best part being the hard drive. I would love to get the DVD player / recorder fixed or replaced. I do know that if replacing, it has to be with the exact same model. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions I really appreciate it.
Thank you,
JRSJ

Is this a $500.00 quote on same problem with the Panasonic DMR-EH75V DVD Recorder from Bayard Electronics? That's the price I purchased the unit new with 3 yr. ext. warr. for.

    Thanks,

I have the same problem with my Panasonic DMR-EH75V which I've had for a year and a half. I knew this sort of thing would happen sooner or later because the CD drive started making unholy noises about a year ago whenever I tried to record. I too have tried every restore option in the manual but it's obvious that the drive is dead. I too plan to hold on to the unit because I love the hard drive capability.

I'm wondering if there's a way to hook up a new DVD recorder along with the DMR-EH75V and get the functionality I used to have before the problem. Also, will I be able to finalize the DVDs that I had not yet finalized if I get a new Panasonic DVD recorder, or are they gone forever?

How do I stop my Panasonic DMR-EH75V DVD Recorder from automatically turnig itself off after 75 seconds?

It could be overheating.. Is it fairly consistent at 75 seconds? To test put the unit in the fridge for 30 minutes then quickly connect it up and test. If it is longer then 75 seconds then something is getting to hot. I've put hard drives (especially laptop ones) in the freezer if I need to copy off data but it clicks/stops working at room temp.

Some new dvds record right through, others from the packet come to 'NO RECORDING POSSIBLE' at some stage - is this to be expected?

I've occasionally found that some brand new DVD-Rs are rejected by Pana recorders, and have put this down to manufacturing faults on the discs. It's usually not worth taking them back when one disc of a pack of 100 is faulty.

All I can recommend is that you use a renowned brand, such as TDK, Maxell, etc to reduce fail rates.

Can my Analog reciver Panasonic DMR-EH 75 v be converted to a digital reciever

I bought a set-top converter box from Dish Network, which will operate with the DMR-EH75V through the remote control cable that was provided with the recorder. It tunes in all the available digital channels and uses the RCA A/V cables to connect to IN1 on the back of the recorder. TVGOS is now provided through channel 2.1 (CBS) in our area and it also provides the time signal that keeps the recorder's clock updated. NOTE: ONLY the Dish Network boxes work with these functions. I've had occasional issues with the box after some period - a few weeks - it needs to be rebooted or reset to manual and then back to automatic (which causes it to reboot anyway.) Model no is DTV PAL PLUS.

What a story ! Clean your laser eye with Rubbing Alcohol and a Q-Tip. Down updates to your Recorder from Panasonics Website., and install in your Recorder. Order your replacement parts from Panasonic but I do doubt you will need them.

Panasonic DMR EH75V - no channel guide after power went out

since there was power failure , the settings( channel guide) that u had programmed has got earsed completly & u will have to reprogram (memorise)them
this has happened because there is a small capacitor(looks like a small battery) which keeps the memory has lost its charge & needs to be replaced.its job is to store the details in case of power failure!!!

Can the panasonic dmr-eh75v copy a vhs tape to DVD?

Yes, that's mostly what I use mine for. You actually copy your VHS to the Hard Drive, then copy from your hard drive to your blank DVD. I'm about 1/3 of my way through reformatting my VHS library (800+ tapes.)

DMR-EH75V DVD Recorder

ekimt,

Yes, it would not recognize any type of disc. The disc icon was always present on the display even though no disc was inserted. Also, mine went out while recording from HDD to DVD. Panasonic had mine repaired in two business days and it' s working great.

DVD recording problems

I have the same unit with the same exact problem. I ended up taking it in for repair and it's now working perfectly. I paid $100 for the repair. I dropped the unit off and picked it up myself. I think $30 additional is charged for shipping and handling in US.
