Interior lights don't work and the bulbs are new. I get them on my wiggling the frame mounted swtich, so I suppose it needs to be replaced. Does anyone know a good way to get these switches out fo the housing?

I have the same problem. Just ordered a replacement switch. However I could not disconnect the wires from the old switch. Perhaps I was being too gentle. Can they be pulled off or do I need a special tool?

These switches have 2 expandable tabs and generally you can use a putty knife and work one side down and pull it completely out. You can also take off the top panel/grate and this will expose the switch asemblies for easier access.

?y light is out and I don't know where the light is so I can replace it. I can't find my manual. Model number: GX5FHDXVTOO. WHIRLPOOL FRENCH DOOR

There should be a plastic grille mounted on the ceiling of the fridge, usually, a good tap with the palm of your hand, towards the rear of the fridge will pop the grille loose and expose the light bulbs. Be sure to replace the bulbs with 40w appliance bulbs only! if replacing the bulb doesnt work, you may need a new light switch or the metal tab in the bulb socket may not be contacting the base of the bulb properly...

Light sockets work if I unclip from metal frame and let hang out of unit

Hi Mark
Check the cables, you will find some loose joints. The light frame/ assembly should be firm, if any part is moving or not sitting in its place, get that corrected. You don't need a rocket scientist to diagnose your problem.

Bought LED 8w(50W) bulb for range hood, bulbs work fine when turned on to regular mode but don't work on the second setting that supposed to make them a little dimmer. Do I need dimmable bulb or is this...

not a bulb problem, the computer board is what makes the light dim. for the price of replacing the main board i would just let it work the way it is. if the light fails completely, then think about a new board, but its not really a thing that is needed.

Interior light and temperature light not lighting up. Worked when first plugged in, then shut off.

take the bulb out and check it with a meter or put it in a lamp to see if it's good,if it is good then you either didn't screw it in correctly or the light switch is bad and needs to be replaced,i've gone in and found the bulb not in correctly, you can turn it in and cross tread it.look where the door closes in,you'll find a switch that the coor hits to shut off the light when it closes, try pushing the switch in and out to see if the bulb lights,if so change out the switch.

Maytag refrigerator lights won't work

the bulbs may look good but try a new one or just try tighting them into the sockets tighter. this is a common problem . the rubber prevents the bulb from going in all the way .. silcone grease on the bulb base.. mm

Lights staying on

You need to replace the door switch, as it is allowing the interior light to stay on, but also it's keeping the fridge section circulating fan from coming on, and that is what is really causing the interior to heat up.

It's located in the top hinge plate cover and you can test for faulty operation by removing the switch and connecting or disconnecting the wires together to see if your light goes out and the circulating fan starts to run. If so, the switch needs to be replaced.

The part number is #6600JB3007K and costs about $8.00. You can order it from several online sellers or at

Here's a diagram of your fridge and the parts list with pricing.

Hope you found this very helpful and best regards!

Interior lights do not work when replaced on kitchenaid refrig, 15 years old.

Light switch is bad and needs to be replaced. Make sure your bulbs really work before you assume anything, however. Just because they are new does not mean they work.
