Question about Olympus EVOLT E-500 Digital Camera
Remove the batteries for one minute and insert the cards with battery out, then restart the camera.
Test the camera with only one card.
Ensure that the Compact Flash, Microdrive or xD-Picture Card you are using are inserted in the correct way. Here a printable manual.
If still no luck, try spraying canned air inside the card slot. Dust getting into the slot can trigger the memory card error.
Test the cards using a computer reader. Try re-formatting the cards. The camera supports FAT32 formatting.
If all that does not work, then one of the memory card slot contacts may have been damaged while extracting or inserting the cards. In that case call Olympus at the number listed on the owners manual to validate warranty or to get a quote on repair.
If warranty is expired, you can get a quote from a third party service here: Repair.
Ensure that you have gone through the troubleshooting steps described above first.
