We have a TEAC stand alone CD copier which has stopped working. It won't copy audio files to the slave disk and we've tried using different blank CDs and different master discs. Sometimes ti looks as if it has copied to the blank CD but it is still blank when we try to play it back on a CD player.

It sounds (pun intended) like the laser part of CD-writer "inside" the unit has failed, thus resulting in "blank" disks.

Disassemble the unit, and replace the CD-writer with any IDE (not SATA) unit.

My 760 recorder keeps show no audio when I try to record. I've tried hooking it up serval ways no luck. However it plays perfect.

You can not use normal Data CDs. Use CD-R Digital Audio CDs or CD-R Audio recordable CDs. If you use correct Digital Audio Recordable CDs, it will show OPC. Once you press Recording, audio out is coming. Otherwise you can not listing to audio. Please read manual carefully. Above will solve your matter.

When u put a blank CD in it will say blank disc when you push REC. it will say Data disc and with a different CD it will say -79.59 e-mail me at [email protected]

I think your problem is that you are using a blank CDROM type disc in a CD Audio recorder. If you "burn" cds on a computer, it does not matter what type of cdr you use, but if it's for a stand alone CD Recorder (that you ise with hifi/dj stuff) you MUST use CDR AUDIO discs (sometinmes it will even say FOR MUSIC)

My Iomega CDRW64001 keeps ejecting my blank CDs. The external LED blinks for several minutes and then ejects the CD with or without a burn program open. It plays recorded CDs and I'm able to install...

Your best solution (since your USB devices and your network-adapter are not working) is to remove the disk-drive from the old computer, and temporarily connect it as a "slave" disk-drive in the new computer, and then copy all your files from "old" to "new".

Or, try a different brand of "blank" CD-R disks -- the "firmware" (software inside the CD-writer) may not be recognizing "newly-manufactured" media). Unless you can update the firmware (by downloading the latest firmware on another computer, and burning a CD-R disk, and then taking that disk to your computer), it's easiest to "move" the disk-drive to the new computer.

Cd player stops spinning about 30 seconds after it starts. I opened the case and watched. It starts playing ok and then slows down and eventually stops.

Is it belt driven? My guess is that the belt needs to be replaced. If it's direct drive, it's probably the motor itself. Make sure you try some different CDs. Sometimes when there are scratches or smudges, the laser can't read the disk and it will stop. You may want to try a laser cleaning disk too. They are cheap and I have saved several computer drives by using one.

I tried to make an exact copy of a CD via Sony Vaio but the copy is messed up. Certain cuts sound scratched. The original CD is clean and plays normally. Does my CD drive need fixing? It (software)...

What type of CD did you copy? Different CD types have different methods for copying them (Example: a music CD has multiple tracks to copy; better to rip them then reburn them onto a blank disk; a DVD disk has multiple data, video and audio files protected on the disk, a straight copy wont work). Based on your question, you tried copying a music CD. Use a program like Windows Media Player, RealPlayer, or iTunes to rip the disk, then copy the ripped tracks to a blank disk. All three of these programs are free, and there are tons of other free alternatives out there to do this.

I cannot find TDK XA80 CD-R Audio - Recordable Compact Discs

All you guys looking for AUDIO burner CDs' should try the MEMOREX CD-R MUSIC CDs. These are a new product, released to REPLACE the TDK XA80 AUDIO CDs.

Stocks are a bit low right now - but only because this is a new product - and people like me are buying up big.

'Tanya' at JB Hi Fi in Erina Fair on the NSW Central Coast, has promised me that she will be ordering plenty of these discs because she is aware of our dilema. Apparently Head Office of JB HiFi has also advised their numerous stores of this MEMOREX product and they should all be having them in stock shortly.

Product description:
Red cardboard box with 10 blank CDs in slim jewel cases. Marked "Memorex Music CD-R" 700MB (80min) Mine cost me $8.95c for this pack of ten.

These work fine on my stand alone, Hi-Fi LG dual tray burner and also on a mates' Pioneer CD burner. Good luck and thank God for Memorex!

Gary, Gosford NSW.
