Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

Hello, Printer part works, scanner does not. Worked for a few months now scanner moves sometimes, sometimes not. Does not complete scan cycle. Have reset it as suggested on OKI site by pressing number 4 on keypad etc. Also used menu to factory reset. Problem still persists. Any advice appreciated. Grant

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Please un-install the printer drivers from Add/Remove program and re-install them and see the results. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance and also let me know the model # of the printer.

Thanks
Rylee

Sorry not part of the problem. Scanner on this model should work independently from the printer and the drivers on a computer have nothing to do with the scanner. Should be able to copy/scan without being connected to any computer.

    Please send another solution. Thanks

Scanner mechanism stuck, making loud clicking sound

I've just got this problem after a powercut, whilst it was not being used but on. If you have only had it a few months send it in warranty.
Think I will have to take this apart and see if the scanner cable/ribbon/drive belt is caught on something or been stretched too much and can be replaced at all.
Its like at one end its caught and wont move the scanning head being stuck somehow, caught on something (doubtful tho').

Scan coming out blurred on Brother 7820N Multi-Function Laser

Hello and welcome to Fixya..

If you havent already, try cleaning both the scan tray, and the glass.

That is usually the culprit ..

Also, look at the glass, sometimes over long term use, a slight condensation can form that distorts scans..

Feel free to add a comment if none of this works for you!

Lexmark 9350 don't recognise the computers when trying to scan

1. If you use buttons on the printer to scan, check your firewall settings. Make sure the "program control" settings allow the printer files. Google your firewall and printer model to get the file names and specific instructions.
2. Check your firewall settings anyway (program control and trust control -- ip address of printer should be trusted).
3. You said your printer worked for a few days. If you're running Spybot on all your computers that might explain why your printer drivers worked for a while and quit. Spybot is a good program, but it sometimes displays scary messages about something having tried to change the registry. The message comes up on a restart--sometimes several days after installing a good program. User selecting "no" disables newly installed (good) program.

If all else fails reinstall the driver on every machine, restart immediately and pay close attention to any firewall or spybot quesions. Search your computer, then Google anything you're asked before answering it.

Hope one of these helps solve your problem.

Scanner

Greetings,

Yikes, that is a problem. Just curious if you have contacted Kodak about this? You can call their support number at 800 421 6699

In my experience, when this happens it is often the result of no ink in the carts. If that happens the scanner stops working to protect the printer. Passing air through a print head can damage it. So, if there is no ink and you try to scan the printer thinks you are attempting to print the scan so it won't let you complete the task. This is generally common to all inkjet printers.

If there is something else involved, we can move ahead from there.

Talk to you soon,

Ron Baird

Scanner doesn't work

If you've tried the printer on different PCs and still didn't work looks like there is something wrong with the scanner internally. When you start the scanner fresh, the scanning light has to move up and down the glass if it doesn't may be something is stuck on the mechanism open it and check for lose cables or dirt. Other option will be that If you bought it on the last 11 months try send it for "Manufacturer's Warranty Repair" you can call HP costumer service and ask them where you can send your unit for service, make sure you use a traceable method and keep records. Or take it to the nearest dealer and have them look at it.
