Question about Barbeques Galore 52-inch Grand Turbo 175800 (NG) Grill

1 Answer

I have a 52" Grand Turbo using LP and want to convert to NG. Where can I find a conversion kit or is it simply changing the orofice for all nine burners? If only the orofice change, where do I find the right ones? I am in Georgetown, TX

Hi.

Not all barbeques can be converted to Natural Gas, and changing the burners would not be enough. For safety reasons there has to be a NG Kit manufactured by the BBQ Manufacturer for the conversion.

Kits for Grand Turbo are not available. I quote from Barbeque galore Grand Turbo manual:

"Your gas grill is manufactured to exact specifications and is approved for LP gas use only. For your own safety, conversion kits are not available and any attempt to convert your grill from LP gas to Natural Gas will void your product warranty."

Conversion kits for this model are not made available from manufacturer.
Before giving up however, you can give a call to Grill-Parts.Com in Arkansas. if any third party kit for this BBQ is available, you can order the kit from them. Here the contact.

Regards.

Ginko.

I tried the source you suggested, but they do not have a kit. They offered to drill the orificies for me if I give them the BTU size of my grill. I would assume that I need a regulator and possibly some hose to make the connection to the pipe and the grill. Can you suggest anything else that would be required?

As I previously stated, the source you suggested for a conversion kit advised they do not have such a kit. However, they did advise they will drill the orifice to the proper setting if I advise them of the total BTU of the grill. Will I also need to have a regulator or any other item to make the conversion?

Who did the conversion to lp? Do you have the old part from the conversion still? If not you can order a kit to put it back to stock which is ng. Not hard for a guy that's handy but time consuming. 2-2.5hrs.

Convert gas grill natural

ducane will not make these available anymore because the ducane family no longer owns the company and the models since 2007 are all made in china with poor quality controls. conversions are simple but the parts will not come through ducane or weber. replace the orifice in the tip of every control valve and replace the regulator. that is the only difference in fuel types.

I am trying to convert a Jenn-air model # PRD3630NP from LP to NG I assume this model is convertable becouse it has a convertable reg on it. Do thay make a kit to do this or is it just a matter of ins

Jenn Air use to make a kit that had the proper orifices for the burners and the valves. The regulator is adjustable for the conversion by simply reversing the main screw. It was intended to be convertible. However, since the model is discontinued, you can no longer purchase the kit (or the backsplash). Apparently Jenn Air believe that when they stop making a product, no one will ever need a part for it again (cough, cough).
Good luck trying to track down a kit. I've tried everywhere in the country and a few shops in Canada. I have a gas appliance expert who thinks he can accomplish the conversion by getting a few of the parts from the LP model and then modifying the rest. The orifices are basically the same, only the LP diameters are different. Theoretically, the ports could be filled and redrilled, but the hardware store was fresh out of 1.07mm bits, so I'll pass on trying this on my own.
If anyone has a LP model they want to convert to natural gas, I'll gladly swap parts.

I got a GE gas range (model JGBS22) from a co-worker. She had converted it from gas to propane. I just had a plumber hook it up to natural gas but, even with the conversion manual, he couldn't change the...

There should be a set of orifices for each burner as well as the oven and broiler. When the unit was converted to propane, these orifices should have been replaced and the ones for gas put in with the conversion kit installation information. The kit should have been reattached near the pressure regulator.

If the kit was missing the orifices, then, yes, you are missing pieces. Check with your coworker if the conversion kit was missing. If you have the kit, it can be easily done by any appliance installer (or repair person) licensed for handling NG. (At least on our range, the conversion kit installation was straight forward. Every orifice was clearly labeled with the labels different for each burner and for the gas/LP kits (ABCD (NG) vs MNOP (LP)) .) The regulator is the only part that switched for LP or NG without the kit.

As I recall, the only tools we needed for the top burners were a small wrench (10 mm) and a small flat blade screwdriver. Remove one orifice and put in the appropriate replacement. Then adjust the burners so that they didn't blow out when the oven was opened or quickly turned from high to low (for the simmer burner). The oven and broiler took a bit longer. Several screws had to be removed to get at the orifices. Then the air flow had to be adjusted for the incoming gas.

I hope this helps.

Where can i find conversion kit for weber platinum series going from LP to NG

Weber does not sell conversion kits. They sell either lp or ng grills. They say the liability is to high to have someone convert grill. No parts available have to buy new grill.

Changing from natural gas to lp.

By getting a gas license! LOL

Remember to tip your waitress! I'll be here all week - Goodnight!

Alright...got it out of my system...here we go:

1. Find out if a conversion kit exists. Answer: Yes it does...in fact it came with it originally. If it had me doing the install, I would have taped the kit to the back of the range.
http://www.fixya.com/support/p106248-kitchenaid_kgsa906pss_gas_kitchen_range/manual-13680/page-7

....and I quote, "IMPORTANT: Your cooktop is factory-set for use with natural gas. If you wish to use L.P. Gas, an L.P. Gas Conversion Kit is included with your new range. Models with the TripleTier Flame Burner will include a TripleTier L.P. Gas Conversion Kit and a kit for standard ranges. See “Installation Instructions” for details on making this conversion.
2. Obtain the kit. This is more difficult than actually doing the conversion. Unless you have a dealer nearby, I'd simply call Kitchenaid directly: (1.800.461.5681) They will either send it to you directly (quite possibly for FREE) or point you in the right direction.
3. The kit will come with instructions, but briefly, here's what you're getting into: The kit will consist of 1-3 orifices. These will reduce the amount of flow going to the burner(s).
Why? Two reasons: a) Propane burns hotter and b) Propane moves quicker than N.G.
You might need: Allan Keys, Screwdrivers, Channel Locks, Adjustable Wrench.
You'll just disassemble the manifold, install the orifice(s), and GO!

Good Luck.

How to convert from lp to ng

Yes,
I converted a Sam's Club Members Mark grille last year and just did some research on the internet and found a numbered drill size chart that gave me the correct drill size to use on each burner(side, main and rear)for the proper BTU supply for the size or BTU rating for your burner. I drilled them, All has worked well! I know Ducane will tell you not to do that, but I think it is a legal issue. If you have a problem, they don't to get a letter from your lawyer.
