These wands have a very small nub that locks them into place. They wear out very easily. You might have to replace the wand.

SOURCE: My Dyson dc 18 slim extender wand has NO suction.

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

To clear the blockage remove the wand/hose assembly from the machine and the remove the wand from the hose. If the blockage is in the wand handle, you will ned to use a narrow stiff object long enough to poke through it to try and clear it. If the blockage is in the hose, you should be able to remove it completely from the machine then this will help you remove the blockage.

Should you need any further help or advice, please call us on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1866MYDYSON (US).

SOURCE: wand in stowaway dyson is hard to extend

Hi there, you should just be able to hold the telescopic wand in one hand, press the button and pull the whole length of the wand out to its fullest position.

If the telescopic wand on your particular Dyosn is very stiff, you may need a replacement.

Your machine may still be under guarantee or warranty. If this is the case, please contact Dyson directly on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1866MYDYSON (US).

There is a sock stuck in the hose of my dyson dc23 animal motorhead how do I get it out

Hi, this is Jim with Crucial Vacuum,

Detach the hose and stretch it out completely, if the sock is in a hard to reach place use a broom handle to push it out. Be careful to mind the edges of the hose you don't want to cause a tear, which would lead to poor suction.

Where are both filters?

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC23 has two filters - a washable pre-filter, and a HEPA post-filter which needs no maintenance. Both are engineered to last the lifetime of the vacuum without replacement in normal use.

The correct way to wash the pre-filter is shown in the video below - we recommend using cold water without detergent, and allowing at least 24 hours for the filter to dry completely before replacing it. In normal use this should be done at least once every 3 months.

As the post-filter needs no maintenance, it's sealed within the machine and cannot be accessed by the user.

I hope this helps, but please let me know if you'd like any further advice. If you have any concerns about your DC23's performance, our online Support guide should help: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc23/dc23-animal/my-machine-is-not-working/check-telescopic-wand-step-1-turbine-head

Machine shut off when suction release button was accidentally pushed. Now it won't come back on! What should I do?

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

The issue you've described sounds very unusual. DC23 has a suction relief trigger underneath the hand grip of the wand handle, but this isn't connected to the vacuum's electrical components and shouldn't cause the vacuum to cut out in use.

However like most Dyson vacuums, DC23 is engineered to shut off for protection if it starts to overheat. This may occur if the machine is used when blocked, or if the filter is overdue for a wash. It should reset automatically after it's had around 2 hours to cool down, but to prevent it from happening again please follow the steps shown in our online support guide: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc23/dc23-animal/my-machine-is-not-working/check-telescopic-wand-step-1-turbine-head

In normal use, we recommend washing the lifetime pre-filter at least once every 3 months using cold water without detergent. Allow at least 24 hours for the filter to dry completely before replacing it.

I'm confident following these steps will resolve the issue, but if you'd like further help or advice after giving this a try, please call our experts directly on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Dyson dc23 lost suction

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your DC23, but I'm sure we can help. If your vacuum doesn't seem to have as much power as it should do, this is likely to be due to a blockage in the Turbine head, wand or hose. In addition to this, the filter may need washing.

To check for any blockages, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide:

http://content.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=1298&product=DC23-TURBINEHEAD-US

In normal use, we recommend washing the filter at least once every 3-6 months, as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for the filter to dry completely before replacing it.

I'm confident this will resolve the issue, but if you'd like further assistance, please give our Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

The brush bar on my DC23 barely goes around when in carpet mode. Any help?

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC23. If the cleaner doesn't seem to be picking up as well as usual, it's a good idea to check the turbine head, telescopic wand and hose for blockages, and to wash the filter. For guidance on the correct way to do this, please see the link to our Support page below:

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/help.asp?article=1554&product=DC23-ANIMAL

This should allow you to resolve your issue without further assistance. However, if you've followed the steps shown in the support guide and are still concerned, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you to identify the cause of the issue you're experiencing, and will be able to recommend the best course of action. I just received a DC 28 animal vacuum and I cannot pull the extension wand out. I see the button to make the wand go up out of the hose, but I cannot figure out how to release the handle from the vacuum. ...

Hi there,

The Quick-draw Telescope Reach wand on your DC28 is designed to detatch from the cleaner automatically when you extend the wand to it's fullest extent. When you replace the wand on the cleaner, the wand will retract automatically down inside the hose. The button on the rear of the wand which you mention will separate the end of the hose from the wand, so you can use the hose without the wand attached when cleaning in tighter spaces. You do not need to press this to extend or retract the wand.

If you have any further questions about using or maintaining your Dyson, please see the user guide supplied with the cleaner, or visit www.dyson.com and click on 'Support. If you'd prefer to speak to one of our experts directly, you can call us free on 1866MYDYSON.
