Hi,

Sorry to hear about the dryer not heating. There are a few things that could cause this issue. I will list each of them here, if you have access to a volt ohmmeter I can walk you through how to determine exactly what is bad.
I would need the full model number from the tag just inside the unit for this.

These are the likely suspects as of now, in order of most likely to least likely:

-Improper voltage, the dryer only needs 120 for the motor, but needs 240 for the heating element to work, be sure both sides of the circuit breaker are on and not tripped, make sure the right power is going to L1 and L2 on the outlet at the wall behind the dryer (I can assist with checking this if you have a volt meter)

- Thermal Cut off, in addition to the thermal fuse there is a cut off that will trip if the venting or lint filter gets clogged. This cut off is located on the burner box just past the heat element and in series with the high limit thermostat

- Hi limit thermostat, this device is right next to the heater and can go bad

- Operating thermostat, this can fail open and cause no heat

- Timer, the heating contacts in the timer can be bad

- Motor, even with the motor running there is an internal switch that has to sense the motor is running, if this switch is bad it can cause a no heat

Let me know if you have the tester and we can go from there.

Thanks

I have a Kenmore Series 70 Dryer and I changed the thermal fuse got hot for a few minutes the model #110.74722400

The cycling thermostat must also be replaced when replacing the thermal fuse. The cycling thermostat's failure to cycle off the heating element results in overheating of the dryer which consequently blows the thermal fuse open.

Replacing only the thermal fuse should the dryer stops running and fails to start will result in its premature blowing or even the thermal cut-out (cut-off) located on the heater duct. Like the cycling thermostat, the high-limit thermostat must also be replaced once the thermal cut-out blows open. Refer to the parts diagram in the link below and look for item numbers 31(thermal cut-off), 34(hi-limit thermostat), 39(thermal fuse), and 41(cycling thermostat.

No a kenmore 80 series dryer will not heat . if the heating elment is good & fuse is good what else could be the problem

The heating circuit is basically composed of the heating element, thermal cut-off, high-limit thermostat, cycling thermostat, and the motor centrifugal switch. The problem is very likely in the thermal cut-off and the high-limit thermostat located on the blower housing. The thermal cut-off blows when the high-limit thermostat fails and cuts power to the heating element. Both the thermal cut-off and the high-limit thermostat need to be replaced if the former is blown open. Click on the link below for the detailed instructions in troubleshooting this kind of problem.

Dyer is not heating up.it turns on and runs but it just does not heat up i took off hose and clean . also looked in back of dyer by taking off clover to look for fuse please help .

Kenmore dryers have what we call a thermo fuse, usually on top on the burner area - I would check continuity on this unit and replace if nesessary.
If the thermo fuse is okay and dryer heats up with gas, check your igniter and/or gas unit coils.
If dryer heats up with electric elements check continuity at both element ends and/or high limit thermostat.

GOOD LUCK!
