This is the fatal flaw of front load washers, see this complaint over and over, use bleach to clean it or Tilex mold and mildew remover, make sure the hole that drains the seal is clean.

Mold door seal

If you want the door seal replaced any local domestic engineer will be able to do this. The mould is caused by excess detergent, constant washing at low temperatures, keeping the door closed when the machine is not in use. If you want to stop the mould reappearing once the seal has been replaced you need to carry out regular service washes (boil wash with a descaler/sanitiser). Use the correct amount of detergent for the amount of washing to be done and the hardness of the water in your area. Give the door seal a quick wipe after you use it and try and keep the door slighlty ajar when not in use.

The lint will be in a removable filter and as for cleaning the rubber seal the black grime will most likely be mould. Try a good mould remover.

Black mould round door seal

There are several reasons for this to happen.
the primary one is the fact that you are doing a lot of low temp washes, and this causes a build up of grease and dirt around the door seal, the mould you refer to is actually bacteria.
You must do a high temp wash at least once every 6 to 8 weeks, put powder and or detergent in as usual, but no washing, and let it do a full cycle.
This is called a maintenance wash and helps prevent what has happened to your m/c.
Thoroughly clean the door seal with a scouring pad or stainless steel wool, you will not harm the seal,
You will probably find the seal will be stained, but as long as you get all the mould etc off, it will be o/k.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks

Mould on Rubber Seal and Musty Smell

bleaching hte rubber will help, you need to check your detergent, you MUST be using an HE detergent, specifically designed for frontloading machines, leaving the door open as well between usage, and running more than just cold washes, HOT water definalty helps.as far as efficincy this machine uses abouit 1/3 of hte water the top loaders do. 13-16 gal, versus 45-50 gal. so an extra rinse is not going to amount ot much. there are also products such as www.AFFRESH tabs, or even "dishwasher magic" has been known to reduced the smells/odors in oyour washer

Rubber door seal mouldy

Wouldn't normallyexpect a few mould spots to leave that bad a smell, so likely you've got two distinct issues.

Starting with the water trapped in the seal: Open the door and very carefully slip your fingers into the seal where the water is gathering (to stop your hand getting trapped between the drum and the outer casing, put your other hand inside the drum and push it up out of the way - just be careful not to let it spring back too fast).

At the very lowest point,of the space inside the seal, either at the very front or the very back (so tucked into the corner between the floor of the seal and it's front or back wall), you'll find a little drainage slot. Once you've cleared the inevitable blockage from this slot, your seal problems should vanish.

If the foul smell is coming from inside the machine, the problem is likely to be grey sludge inside the works of the machine. This is usually caused by modern detergents not being quite as good at working at 30 degrees as they claim to be. The answer is to run a cycle every now and then with no laundry, detergent, or conditioner in the machine, on the longest, hottest programme the machine will support. This should be sufficient to dissolve the rotting sludge and pump it away down the drain.
