Monitor turns on then turns off

If I keep restarting the monitor once it turns itself back off... after about 10 minutes of running this on / off cycle. The monitor will finally stay on

You may have failing power supply, if you are going to do DIY repair, please read below.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). When I am downloading a film...I leave my PC on but when I go back to it after about half an hour it has switched itself off stoopping my download can you help please ty mike


There is little info on your problem but I think you mean the screen went black while downloading a film. Normally computer monitors turn themselves off (dormant) to save energy and the life of the monitor's screen if not used for 10 or 30 minutes, depending on the settings, but the download just keeps going. Mine is set to 10 minutes. All you have to do is disturb the Mouse and see if the monitor screen switches itself on. There is another power saving option, and that is the Computer itself. If the computer is not used for one hour, it too goes dormant, but can also be set to switch itself completely off after the download is completed. However, if a computer is left on for over an hour, it can switch itself off to save energy and the computer's own wear and tear. It all depends on the computer hardware and the settings. If it is hardware controlled, then it may or may not switch itself off but it still goes dormant. Or it can be set to whatever you wish it to do, stay on all the time, go dormant after a set time or switch off if there is no prolonged activity.

My computer monitor just has a window open that says ( D-SUB out of range 53.6khz/85hz) how can I fix this ?


1. Turn off your computer (you can do this by holding down the power button).
2. Making sure the monitor cable is plugged into the computer, turn the computer back on.
3. If there is something other than the error message on screen, begin tapping the F8 key on the keyboard as soon as the computer turns on. 3b. If nothing (other than the error) is shown on the screen after restarting, you must obtain another monitor and follow these steps from the beginning on that screen.
4. After less than a minute, you should get a menu like this

5. Select "Safe Mode" 7. Once at the Windows desktop, right click on the background, and select properties.

8. Select the "Settings" tab, and move the resolution slider all the way to the left.

9. Restart normally, and once in regular Windows, repeat steps 7 and 8, selecting the resolution of your choice.

Obd2 system rediness status won't clear so I can run the smog test due to replacing the battery.

Fuel remained in fuel tank: 30 - 50% is recommended.
Time required: 16 minutes or less after started the engine.
Drive cycle pattern: One trip monitor (from start to ignition switch to "LOCK" (OFF) position. Well be completed while traveling with the following drive cycle pattern.
Test Procedure
Engine: start.
Accelerate until the vehicle speed is 89 km/h (55 mph) or more.
While keeping the accelerator pedal opening degree constant, keep the vehicle speed at 89 km/h (55 mph) or more and travel for 16 minutes.
Return the vehicle to the shop, then turn the ignition switch to "LOCK" (OFF) position.

Engine: start.
Accelerate until the vehicle speed is 89 km/h (55 mph) or more.
While keeping the accelerator pedal opening degree constant, keep the vehicle speed at 89 km/h (55 mph) or more and travel for 30 minutes.
Return the vehicle to the shop, then turn the ignition switch to "LOCK" (OFF) position

PROCEDURE 3
CATALYTIC CONVERTER MONITOR
Drive Cycle Pattern
Inspection Conditions
Atmospheric temperature: -10°C (14°F) or more.
Condition of A/T: Selector lever D range.
Engine coolant temperature: Not set.
Time required: 16 minutes or more.
Drive cycle pattern: One trip monitor (from start to ignition switch to "LOCK" (OFF) position). Will be completed while traveling with the following drive cycle pattern.
Test Procedure
Engine: start.
Accelerate until the vehicle speed is 89 km/h (55 mph) or more.
Travel for 300 seconds or more while keeping the vehicle speed at 89 km/h (55 mph) or more.
Decelerate until the vehicle speed is within 80 km/h (50 mph) or less.
While traveling at 56 - 80 km/h (35 - 50 mph) for 10 minutes or more, fully close the throttle at least once in 2 minutes and decelerate for 10 seconds or more.
Do not repeat deceleration too often.
Vehicle speed may go below 56 km/h (35 mph) after the deceleration.
Stopping and braking are permitted. (If stopped or drive at 56 km/h (35 mph) or less for more than 5 minutes the monitoring may be stopped. In this case please restart monitoring from the beginning.)
After completing the above deceleration, bring the vehicle speed back to 56 - 80 km/h (35 - 50 mph) and keep it in the range until starting the deceleration again.
Repeat the above deceleration at least 5 times.

Drive cycle pattern: One trip monitor (from start to ignition switch to "LOCK" (OFF) position). Will be completed while traveling with the following drive cycle pattern.
Test Procedure
Engine: start.
Accelerate until the vehicle speed is 56 - 80 km/h (35 - 50 mph).
While keeping the accelerator pedal opening degree constant, keep the vehicle speed at 56 - 80 km/h (35 - 50 mph) and travel for 16 minutes or more.
Stopping and braking during this operation are permitted. Keep the accelerator opening degree constant for 1 minute or more after each acceleration.
Return the vehicle to the shop, then turn the ignition switch to "LOCK" (OFF) position

PROCEDURE 5
EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR) SYSTEM MONITOR
Drive Cycle Pattern
Inspection Conditions
Engine coolant temperature: 100°C (212°F) or less.
Atmospheric temperature: 5 - 60°C (41 - 140°F).
A/C switch: OFF.
Condition of A/T: Selector lever D range.
Time required: 16 minutes or more.
Drive cycle pattern: One trip monitor (from start to ignition switch to "LOCK" (OFF) position). Will be completed while traveling with the following drive cycle pattern.
Test Procedure
Engine: start.
Accelerate until the vehicle speed is 56 - 80 km/h (35 - 50 mph).
While traveling 16 minutes or more at 56 - 80 km/h (35 - 50 mph) with engine speed 2,000 r/min or above, fully close the throttle at decelerate for 5 seconds or more until the engine speed reaches 1,000 r/min or under.
Do not repeat deceleration too often.
Stopping and braking are permitted (Rapid deceleration and sharp steering are not permitted).
After completing the deceleration, bring the vehicle speed back to 56 - 80 km/h (35 - 50 mph) and keep it in the range until starting the deceleration again.
Repeat the above deceleration at least 8 times by fully closing the throttle valve.
Return the vehicle to the shop, then turn the ignition switch to "LOCK" (OFF) position

Test Procedure

My monitor keeps going on Analog power saving mode


mcdevito75 here, The on/off switch on the monitor may be worn, Once you get your monitor on again, I'd leave it on, it"ll shut off after approx. 10--20 minutes after your computer is off, with no extra electricity used even though the on/off switch is on, you still have no picture and thus no electricity being used.

If you can start it up on safe mode go and back up the files that you needed because formatting the HD will be needed and reinstalling the operating system. You can also download malwarebytes first and run it during safe mode. once it is finish restart it in normal mode if it does not work perform the 1st step above.

it might go to sleep every 5 min so you can change the settings to like 10 30 or 0 minutes

your monitor is telling you it's on it's last legs..either that or your compaq has a bad video section. either is more vital than a video cable being loose.

Turns off and on by itself


Ok so its connected to your pc?
check settings on the monitor itself [if you'restill able to do that]
disconnect all your usb devices restart your computer and try again.

Is it in a cold room ? that might be the problem.

Is it in the same powerbar as your computer ?
I'm not sure but if your power outlet where you connect it is simply looped to the rest that are in use [lazy electrician] then it might turn off because a power shortage.

Monitor (viewsonic e70fb) keeps shutting itself off


the screen has begun vibrating and is very hard to read.


it sounds me that there is some sparking in power supply or high voltage section (FLYBACK) due to loose contact,

 

your problem of  shut off, I would turn it back on and it would stay on

.might be also due to that only.

please call tech if you are not a tech person.

it is not a major one & simple to fix.
