LCD totally black, but camera still takes pictures

I tried taking the back off as suggested on this site and the wires are all firmly attached. However, the battery (?)....looks slightly rusted. Can this be the problem and can it be replaced? thanks..

When I turn my camara on the LCD shows no image of what Im aimming the camera at. when I take a photo no image is captured, its just black But I can see video and pictures I have stored on the memory card....

It's likely that your camera's shutter is stuck in the closed position. Some owners have reported "fixing" this problem by firmly tapping the camera several times on a hard surface, but that can also result in more serious camera damage. The only safe fix is a professional one. I suggest that you take it to a local camera shop (NOT the camera department in a chain store) or contact customer service via the canon.com web site to arrange repair. Be sure to get a firm price before you commit to anything though. Cost for the fix can approach the cost of a new camera, and repairs typically only carry a 30-day warranty.

The view screen is black and you can't see what you're taking the pic. Battery is ok

If camera shows Menu item or any on-screen display in LCD but no live view to take picture then it can be either aperture problem or defective ccd imager.
And if you do not see any display icon in LCD then of course LCD section is bad or LCD back light is Off for some reason. Try to see faint image in LCD if it is totally blank by pointing good amount of light with flash light or some thing.

LCD screen is totally white and absent of color

Sounds like a loose ribbon cable -- the one that connects the screen to the circuitry inside the camera.

Try squeezing the body of the camera near the bottom 'Samsung' logo, to try to snug-up the connection. Brace the front (under the lens) with your index fingers, and press firmly with your thumbs on the back over the logo just under the screen.

You might try squeezing around the other edges of the screen for good measure in case something else came loose.

I OWN A CANON POWERSHOT SD1000. THE DISPLAY SCREEN IS BLACK WHEN I TRY TO TAKE A PICTURE. HOWEVER PLAYBACK IS CLEARLY VISIBLE. IT IS ONLY WHEN I ENDEAVOUR TO TAKE A NEW PICTURE THAT THE SCREEN IS TOTALLY...

If you take a picture using the optical viewfinder, does the camera actually record the picture? If so, you may have the LCD turned off in the camera mode (there are three options: standard, detailed, and off). With the camera in the shooting mode, press the "DISP" button and see if the LCD turns on.

Lcd screen is black can't take new pictures

Hi Guys, My A620 is almost out of warranty :-{ and the lcd went blank. Could still take pictures and view them, just couldn't see them on the lcd screen. After looking through all of these trouble shooting pages, someone on another page suggested to reset settings, manual pg 28. Or on the camera switch on, Menu, go into tools scroll down till you reach rest all and ok. Doesn't clear pics already on there, and mine now works fine :-) phew. Good luck xx

having looked at the "image" mys suggestion is try a different memory card. If that's ok, then you know where the problem lies. I am looking at total file corruption on your BMP.

If a different card does not resolve the issue, then it's a workshop job.

Pictures are black

My 4300 works fine until this week. No picture display on the LCD screen. Settings like date, exposure, etc.. are fine on the LCD screen. Able to get into setup mode and the colour menu selection box is fine. This shows that the LCD screen is working fine. Prior to this happening, I notice that when I took pictures in zoom mode, the picture turn out to be orange. I suspect this is caused by electronic failure. Light entering the lens cannot be transmitted to the LCD screen. Some photoelectronic stuff had reached its MTBF (mean time between failure)? Is there a way to save this camera?

Black pictures with blue lines running horrizontally through them

If you are able to see the picture in the LCD in black color and if there are no damages to the LCD -the LCD is fine. There is a back light panel attached behind the LCD which may be defective.Check for the loose connections. If you need spare parts contact me.

Pentax Optio 555 LCD screen blank problem

No I don't believe it is your shutter, more than likely it is a LCD Screen problem. I would suggest you take your camera back to the shop where you purchased the camera and have it serviced under warranty. I had a customer with an Optio 550 come in and it looked like every shot was taken through 'venetian blinds' and the problem was with the LCD Screen and the camera was sent back to Pentax and repaired under warranty.
