Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

Hey guys, I am a dishwasher repair guy in barbados, the caribbean. I am having problems with a Hobart LX30H. the relay board is doing half the things right and the othrs not at all. I replaced it with a new one and the same results. At startup, the wash sump heater and wash motor are running, but the fill valve, drain valve and rinse booster are not running. Hence the startup operation is stalled. the funny thing is that the rinse booster and fill valve led's on the relay board light up at there correct operational times show these processes but the processes are not actually carried out.

Not sure what sort of problems (fault codes etc) you were having before you chose to go on the path of replacing the relay board.

It might help to know what fault codes you have been noticing.

One possibility is that the power supply is not giving enough current to operate the devices which you notice are not starting eg, sump heater, fill valve, drain valve. The LEDs coming on does not mean the devices have got the actual power. The relay might have actuated and that is what the LEDs convey.
You have to check incoming water temperature plus the water pressure as well.

I am assuming you have a proper user guide for this, if not see

Please post a comment to say if this is helping or not. Happy to try to help you fix this. I do not have access to a repair manual for this manual.

I was looking to save some time by asking you guys yesterday, but I had no choice but to dive right in and do full diagnostics because they needed the washer for the weekend. It turned out that the incoming power for one set of relays was cut by a blown fuse but not for the other set of relays on the same board. Thanks anyway. Just got back from the client and the washer is up and running. By the way, the error codes don't help for some problems. Thanks any.

Thanks for your posting. Glad to know the problem was with the power supply as I had thought.

This has the contact info for Hobart on it. Given the age of the unit though, you might be out of luck. It is possible that the motor was done correctly and the power issue is somewhere else. There could be an internal fuse or a power transformer that has failed/

Lx30h hobart dw. booster will not turn on. element good,hi-limit is good, changed temp probe, still no power to contactor

The booster heat control circuit is controlled by the relay board. Visually check for loose or burnt relay contacts...
You will see the booster LED light when it calls for heat. Some newer machines have a second high limit on the right hand side of the booster tank.
It may be your control board is configured for low temp with no booster. When you power up, the display should say LX30H. If not
Pull open the upper drawer, place a magnet over the door interlock switch.

CAUTION, 220 volt power is present. be carefull what you touch.

on control board, short J5-1 and J5-2, then power up. You are in factory setup. press select on the control board to see each option on the front panel., press up arrow on control board to step up through options for each step. when done, press the off button on front panel. remove short and start up normally. With the magnet in place, AND THE DOOR CLOSED, run the machine and observe the relay board status lights.
If you want to adjust the temp set points, with the machine off, press and hold the hidden key behind the front panel logo, and press select on the control board.. Or on power up, hold the wask key..Same to adjust options as above. Press off to exit.
