Check to make sure that the individual cables are connected to the corresponding channel. For example, DVD player is connected to the "Video 1" output on TV. On the back of your DVD, the cable is plugged in the "out" output, going to your TV the cable is plugged in the "in" output(red, white, yellow) Are you using an RCA cable(red, white, yellow) for the units?

How to get dvd on tv

There are generally 2 ways to connect a dvd player to a tv.1 If you have 3 rca connectors on the back of your tv (they are color coded yellow for video and white and red for audio left and right channels respectively) and the same connectors on the back or side of the dvd player.Use rca cables to connect the dvd player to the tv,connecting yellow to yellow white to white and red to red.Using the remote put your tv on video.Put the channel selector on the dvd/vcr player on video or L1 or E1 (depending on what brand dvd/vcr you have).2 connect a rf (coaxial cable from the rf output of the dvd/vcr and connect this directly to the rf (antenna) input to your tv.Put the tv on channel 3.Play the dvd/vcr to see if you have the video. If not put the tv on channel 4.Some dvd/vcr's put their signals out on channel 3 and others on channel 4.Good luck.

Rca model j27435 trying to use dvd player says unusable signal

Most DVD players and maybe the Wi are connected via rear audio and video input jacks so that may be your issue.

The disc is stuck in the player and the tv screen says it cannot get a signal.

Barbara, your dvd player needs to be either on channel 3 or 4. If you have a local channel 3 or 4 switch it to the one that is not local. Or it could be a video 1,2 or 3. Just keep using the remote in that format and you will find the signal.

Don't know what channel the dvd is suppose to be on. TV is set on 4 and I can't get dvd to change to four.

DVD players don't carry signals to channels. They carry signals to inputs. Check the back of your TV. If your cable coming from the DVD player goes into "video 1" set the tv to video 1, etc.

I have an older RCA television and when I hook the dvd player up to it the tv says unusable signal.

I don't know if this will help. Try changing the tv channel to channel 3. If that doesn't work, depending on which port you plugged into, start at channel 3 and go down in channels. it should change to the different ports you have with every push of the button. to get to channel 3 you may have to use your remote and type in '03'. Make sure your dvd player is on while you do this.

hope this helps

Problem hooking up DVD player to TV thru my cable box

Chances are you've got your DVD player hooked to OUPUT jacks on the cable box, not inputs. I haven't yet seen a box that takes any kind of an input other than the cable line, but they will have RCA jacks for audio and video outputs on the back. So your cable channels are fine, but the DVD signal is hitting a dead end.

The only solution if your TV doesn't have RCA inputs for video and audio is to get an RF converter (around $10-$20). This takes the A/V signals from your DVD and turns them into a channel 3 or 4 signal that connects to your TV's antenna input.

The converter also has a connector on the back for the cable coming from the cable box, since you'll have to disconnect that from the TV. When the DVD player is off, the cable box signal gets passed to the TV as normal. Turn on the DVD player and the RF converter switches on; put your set on channel 3 or 4 and you'll see your video.

One final thing: The converter will need an AC outlet for its power adapter or power cord, so make sure you have a spare. If you don't already have your TV and DVD player connected to one, this would be a good time to pick up a surge-protector outlet strip. Then not only will you have enough outlets, you'll be protecting your equipment as well.

If this solution has given you what you need, please take a moment to rate it appropriately. And thanks for asking here!

What is your TV input connection? Are you using Antenna? Cable? Dish?

The Unusable Signal sounds like the TV is not getting a signal. Does your TV have a built in HD Tuner?

If you are using Antenna you might want to try setting up the connections and it should search for quality channels that you get good signal strength. If you are on channel 2 and there is no over the air channel 2 it may say "unusable signal".

Trying to hookup dvd

Steps to hook up DVD player:

1. Plug in DVD player
2. Plug in VIDEO cable to back of DVD player
There are multiple video out cable options: HDMI, VGA, RCA
If you aren't sure, use RCA (red, white, yellow tri-plug cable) and plug yellow into VIDEO OUT port.
3. Plug other end of video cable into TV's VIDEO IN port.
4. Turn on TV to the INPUT channel that corresponds with the input port you plugged the video cable into. Usually, this is either VIDEO1, VIDEO2, INPUT1, INPUT2, or channel 3.
