Re: sony 36inch trinitron, power light blinks four times
try to resolder the circuitry and also check the status of the horizontal output transistor. Check for the output voltages 130v, 12v and 9v.
Any of 3 reference voltage missing will disable your units function.

These blinks (flashes) are fault indication. By the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside the TV. Count the blinks occur at one time switch ON, carefully. Do it once again, and make sure about the number of blinks. If the flashes are continious, non-stop, the main system control IC should be suspected. If you wish to get more details, check the site linked here. It has blinking codes detail to many brand TVs. Blinking of standby light in Sony sets are fault indications. You just count the number of blinks occur at a time, by switching the set ON-OFF by its front panel power switch, not by the remote control handset. Just do it for at least three or four times, count the exact number of blinks occurs there, and inform it to me through Fixya. Through the number of blinks, I can locate the faulty section, of somtimes to the exact fault location. Count it keenly and inform me. OK.

If standby light is blinking in sequence, let me know how many times it is blinking and also intimate exact model number of TV to find out possible solution. Thanks.
