Moving the TV

We are moving the TV to another City. In transporting the TV, does it have to stay upright or can it be laid down? It will be moved via a pickup truck. The TV is about 8 years old and is still working great.

Hi,
TV should be in upright position during transportation in some safe packing around it.
Thanks.

When i moved my kic chest freezer model kc0021-Aa, I heard an light explosive sound and now the freezer does not go on.

The following is the GE moving instructions. If you have started before the 24 hour rest period and the unit had been rotated from vertical have the compressor inspected.

FREEZER MOVING INSTRUCTIONS Please use the following steps when relocating an upright or chest freezer:
  1. Disconnect the power cord from the wall receptacle.
  2. Remove the food, defrost, and clean the freezer.
  3. Use blankets to protect the freezer finish from scratches.
  4. Place the freezer on its side for moving only if you have no other choice.
  5. When transporting a freezer, keep it in an upright position. If transporting it in an upright position is not possible, lay it down on the compressor side of the unit. Be careful to secure the door to prevent it from opening.
  6. If it has been transported on its side, set it right side up in its final location and allow the freezer to sit for the same amount of time that it was on its side (24 hrs max.). Do not plug the unit into the electrical receptacle without allowing this settling time. The unit can be damaged if it is plugged in prematurely.

If the unit was transported in an upright position there is no waiting time required.

Hope this helps?

How many time I need to wait until connecting my refrigerator when I move it

if it remained upright all the time , it will switch on immediately and run
if you failed to follow moving instructions and laid it down then 24 hours to allow the oil to get back to the compressor

Can I lay down an Emerson 4.6 cu ft refrigerator to fit in my car to transport

Even though it's not the preferred method of transport, it's OK to lay a refrig down for moving, even new R134a if you pay close attention to the refrigerant lines.

Determine where the suction line runs up into the freezer. This is the largest tube connected to the compressor, and is usually (though not always) visible running up the back of the cabinet.

As long as the refrig is laid down on whichever side allows this line to stay 'high', there'll be minimal oil migration, and when you arrive at your destination, just stand it upright for an hour or so and it'll be fine. Obviously, the shorter the trip, the better.

If the suction line runs up the door handle side, just duct-tape the doors securely closed before you lay it down to keep them from opening and getting damaged. It helps to lay a block of wood under the top end, just to keep it inclined a bit, too.

I've been moving refrig's for some 32 years now, and while moving them in an upright position IS best, sometimes you just can't. I work out of a van, and have often laid both refrig's and upright freezers down for transport with no ill effects.

Moved unit, wont get cold

did you transport it upright or laying down.... depending on who you talk to you will get a different answer... i have been in the appliance business for 18 years and have to say the more i hear they are transported laying down the more i hear troubles... either way after transported or moved they should be left sitting for approx. 24 hours to allow all the oil to settle back down,,,also could have developed a leak in the sealed system one of the refrigerant lines leaking.

To transport a loewe spheros 42 plasma unit with rotating stand does the tv unit detach from the stand? I understand that the plasma tv should be transported in an upright position only is this true?

Yes, it should be transported in upright position.
When we moved, our moving company arranged a crating company to crate our Spheros unit. They built a crate around the TV and secured it in an upright position along with the rotating stand. They then put a tilt sensor (you get the serial number of the tilt sensor) to make sure that the moving people don't tilt the crate. They also un-crate it at your destination. The only problem is that the TV is already quite heavy to begin with (~180 lbs), and with the crate, it becomes almost impossible for the movers move it in perfect upright position....though our movers really tried hard.

Moved refrigerator - stopped working

If you laid it down while moving it and did not let it stand upright for a few hours before using it, the sealed system is stopped up with the oil which should be in the compressor. cut it off and wait a day and try again.

no it doesnt hurt them. I transport projection screen Tvs all the time by laying them down flatt all the time. You may have to adjust the convergence a little when youre finished moving it, but it wont hurt it.
