SOURCE: cant connect to the internet
If you are getting this error after completing a system update, this is usually because the console resets to using the first connection slot after an update. There are two things you can do:
If you know which connection file you were using before, you can select that connection file, then select "Use this connection" to change that to the default. You will need to do this each time they download an update.
If you don't know which connection file you are using, or if you would prefer not to update the active connection file each time, try to clear, and then re-create your connection setting in slot one before doing the remaining troubleshooting
Check for interference that may be successful connection.

Do the internet connection test and see if it has a problem, if it does, then reset your wii internet again and it should work fine. This can occur rarely. Hope that helps.

Go to Wii Options in the lower left.
Click on Wii Settings to the right.
From this first list, click the right arrow.
Now on page 2, click on Internet.
Then click Connection Settings.
From this list, click Connection 1.
Then, click Wireless Connection...
and then click Search for an Access Point.
It will briefly search for any access points and when this screen comes up, click OK.
The following will be a list of nearby access points. If the one you are looking for doesn't show up, click Try again.
Then, click the one you have access to...
click OK once you've selected your connection, it might ask for a security key if you have one set up.
it should test the connection.
If this is the first time you've connected your Wii, it will most likely update your system

Make sure your wireless network is set up correctly with the correct SSID and encryption key. You may also just need to power cycle your router.
