Hello, the xbox 360 has an internal memory which is not expandable. The screen freezing and 3 red lights issue is a common error for Xbox 360 consoles when experiencing a general hardware error. These are caused by the solders for the GPU and some internal components are failing thus likely making the console not to function. Try to contact MS Xbox support for it to be fixed, if out of warranty you'll gonna have to pay $99 for repair. Cheers!

Picture keeps freezing and making a load buzzing noise.

This is usually caused by a cold solder joint underthe GPU, which causes overheating, but your Xbox 360 hasn't recognized it yet, thus it has not displayed the 3RROD error (3 Red ring of death, red lights). Itwill sometime in the future if it remains unfixed.

You have a few options:

1) If it is within 3 years of its manufacture date (printed on the back of the console). You can call Microsoft and send it in, and they may replace it for you forfree. I know they do this for 3RROD Xboxes, but they may not be as quick toreplace it for free if it hasn't displayed the error yet.

2) Do the "X-Clamp" fix yourself following a guide from hereor here.

3) There are many repair sites that would be more than happy tohave you send in your Xbox 360 to have it repaired.

Three red lights flashing. What to do?

3rrod is a common fault with the 360, it says that its a "general
hardware failure" which could mean anything really. In truth its the lead
free solder that cracks with so much heat and as a result the Xbox 360
fails causing the 3rrod (3 red rings of death).

run a search on the net or youtube for 3rrod guides, there are a few free ones available

You will need to get a 3rrod repair kit or get someone to fix it for you,
there are guides available on the internet. I'm in the middle of
producing one right now that I will make available free of charge for all

It starts to flicker while you play

This sounds like the lead free solder is failing and will eventually go to 3rrod or e74

My Xbox 360 freeze during startup

The Elite's aren't cheep , So just bit the bullet and
send it to Texas for replacement , via of Microsoft.
if you want to get a person when calling Microsoft just keep
repeating agent. agent...affter the number selections for service

If you you opened it up already or you aren't the original owner
then ill tell you what needs to be done . first find a repair shop
that will re-flow the G.P.U. and ask them if they straighten the
board if needed , and do they support the G.P.U from both
side of the board when they reinstall the heat sink . those
are the KEY QUSTIONS . 50.00 repairs don't hold so avoid them

I hope that help a little

if you have any questions feel free to email me

E74 xbox 360

It is a General Hardware failure. Is your Xbox still under warranty? Go to the Xbox website and check there troubleshooting section first, if that doesnt fix your unit, start a service ticket with them and send it in.

If you want to have a go repairing yourself i can supply a guide for you, we currently also do a mod to all repairs called systemX which lets you repair the machine at home without having to strip it down again. I do have 1 or 2 guides for 3rrod repair which will cure this problem. email me if you need any help

Xbox 360 display

This is the common "no video" error which usually comes before you get an e74 or 3rrod like 0102. Try the x-clamp fix and stop by our xbox 360 repair forum if you need more help. Good Luck!

Red circle lights ?

its probably the 3rrod (3 red rings of death) and is a very common fault with the 360. if its still under warranty Micorosft will fix this free of charge for you. they may still repair it free even if its out of warranty, you need to ring them and tell them you got the dreaded 3rrod!.

if they wont replace it the only way to fix this would be replace the heatsink paste, replace the x-clamps holding your heatsinks to the mainboard and apply the team xecuter 3rrod repair kit.

if you need more help just ask
