It is looklike that is the lens motor ***'y or some dust or send in gear system /you can try a air dust can to blow air arround the lens base ,you may have a liitle button to remove the plastic ring that protect the lens base from dust,, if it not works you may need a lens alignement....
hope that will help you

Sounds like the lens barrel has been damaged. Does it look as if it's pointing slightly sideways or is it not perfectly round anymore?

Kodak Easy Share Z1275 stuck lens

**** a very common problem with most cameras. There hasn't been much of a solution for this problem except to try to wiggle the lens zoom while pushing and holding the power button.
Also make sure you have brand new batteries installed. Even the slightest dead battery will cause a problem.

CAMARA turns off when i press to take a photo

I have the same camera... and it was doing the same thing AFTER i changed my old batteries, because they were getting low. It was only after i put in the NEW batteries that i had this problem... I tried putting the old batteries back in and sure enough it worked again, so it probably all just depends on the brand of the battery you use.
