Spilled water on acer aspire 15 inch laptop

Bill:

Drying the keyboard with a hair dryer was not a good idea... Under the keys are layers of mylar with the circuits for the keys printed on them. If the mylar got hot it wrinkled and the keyboard may have been ruined. Try the keyboard after the batteries have dried, and if it does squirrely things, you'll probably have to replace the keyboard.

Well if you spilled milk on it there is only one thing to do: take apart, wash, wait for it dry, and hope the best.
Find all the screws on the bottom (some might be under stickers or the rubber pads), unscrew them all, and take apart the case. Iside you should find a small panel and a double layered foilage thingy, with printed tracks on it. Remove the small panel and wash everything else with warm tap water. Dry it with a towel and wait for it to dry completely. Then put back together and try it out.
There's not much you can loose this way, if this doesn't work you'll have to buy a new keyboard anyway.
Good luck!

After liquid spill the laptop has to be disassemble and the motherboard inspected for liquid damage. In some cases cleaning the motherboard might fix the laptop.

Keybd keys are sticking

Be prepared to buy a new keyboard... Remove AC and DC power before working on laptop. Many laptop keyboards come off with the removal of 1 to 5 screws from the bottom. Some, however, require the palm rest to be removed, then a couple of screws that hold in the keyboard. Be careful when removing and replacing cables. After removing keyboard, rinse with water and let dry thoroughly before re-attaching and powering up. You cannot remove individual keys, so don't try.

Very short freezes constantly

There was more damage than just the keyboard, your fault appears intermitten and possibly some connectors and sockets are not making good electrical contact. You need to dismantle the laptop completely to inspect and clean what ever you can with distilled water and let it dry throughly. It still may not work because there may be some electrical damage to some chips and components, especially if the laptop was running at the time of the wine spill.

There is not much help I can offer you except to advise you to buy another laptop, and if the hard drive in the old laptop is OK then buy a USB hard drive case and insert the laptop hard drive in this case and use it as an external USB hard drive. You need to delete all the old system files etc. to maxmise the hard disk space.

No power

Any hope you may have left other than an expensive repair, is to remove the battery and leave the unit in an airing cupboard for a week and pray. Then replace the battery and try again. No change - then nothing lost. I know it's basic, and best done as soon as the damage was done, but has worked for me in similar circumstances. Don't be tempted to use a warm oven.
