Goodman central unit not functioning

Had transformer break its mounting bracket. Replaced transformer. Worked great then mounting tabs broke again. Replaced transformer again. Now the LED on the controlboard does not light up but you can hear a buzzing noise from transformer. Could the capacitor cause this problem? The control board was replaced last year and all the rollout limit switches were replaced when first transformer replaced. My e-mail address is [email protected].

You may be putting the incorrect transformer in. Try to get a OEM from your local HVAC dealer. Which capacitor are you referring to?

There is a short in the control wiring that needs to be tracked down. Ohm the wiring to the low voltage controls, ie thermostat wiring and thermostat. Try disconnecting the thermostat wires to rule out the problem in the control wiring to the thermostat or thermostat itself, then install a new transformer without connecting the thermostat wiring, jump the red and green wire at the unit low voltage connections to test blower, and then add yellow for compressor, should be no more than 3 amps on control side wiring with A/C on.
If the problems still exists without the thermostat wiring connected then there is a problem in the wiring in the unit or control board itself.

it is either a faulty part or when the heater core was installed the core was not installed correctly..they may have not reinstalled the mounting brackets for the heater core..incorrect instalation will either cause the brackets to rub through the core or allow the core to vibrate an break

I have a goodman furnace with 110 volts going in to the transformer but nothing coming out. Does the transformer need to be replaced?

Hello, yes if you have no voltage on the secondary side of the transformer must be replaced, also, you can turn off power to tje unit and set your meter to read continuity, if no continuity then the transformer must be replaced.

Have a bad rattle at the muffler.sounds like the it is hitting the car.like a bracket broke.

Very common problem with the muffler strap(clamp) breaking. It can be bought at any auto parts store & is easily replaced. It wraps around muffler & slides into a rubber mount bracket.

You might have some thermostat wires that are touching meaning the insulation has been broke off and getting a direct short. Check the wiring going to the outside unit and replace any wire that is in bad shape. let me know okay. Ken

Goodman Furnace/AC unit not working 3a fuse blows even after replacement. once thermostat is turned on and clicks to start ac unit the fuse blows

3 amp is standard.the fuse is blowing to protect the transformer. It is telling you that there is a short in the low voltage wiring.Goodman also had an issue with the coil shorting on the contactor. To prevent damage.....i'd call a pro.It should be a fairly simple repair.

HK avr125 5.1, no display, no functions.

Same problem. C901 on the vertically-mounted input board next to the power supply transformer was burned. Replaced with ceramic cap from RS with same specs. Still did not work. Talked to Jeb, great guy at HK tech support. He suggested that R901 would probably be blown and maybe 902 also. These are flame-proof resistors and do not show damage. Tested with multimeter and Jeb was spot on. Replaced 1w resistors with 5w (all RS had) at same resistance. Works great.
