Well there are a couple of reasons for this unprofessional behaviour of your notebook.
It can either be a virus problem or a lot of junk files at times eat up a lof of memory which in turn decreases the performance of the system..
Here are some of the steps which you need to perform to increase the performance of your Pc.
1.At first would request you to download an Anti-Malware Software, here's the link for the same.
Dowload the setup file, save it on the desktop, install the software and then run a quick scan which would definately show up certain infections...
You need to click on Show results and delete them accordingly...
2.After we are done with the Malware Bytes we need to perform certain steps to speed up the system,,
3.Click on Start, in start search or Run type %temp% and then hit enter.
4.This would take us to a new folder, press CTRL+A and then delete everything.
5.Now again click on Start and in start search type PREFETCH and then hit enter.
6.This would take us to a new folder, press CTRL+A and then delete everything.
7.Now open a new browser page and in the address bar type atfcleaner.notlong.com and then enter.
8.Run the file , select everything and then click on Remove Selected, accordingly click on exit.
This should definatly speed up your pc as well as the Numbers of process running would also be minimized and the CPU performance would aslo increase a lot.
Hope this works.

Actually if you Google each open process name there are a number of sites that have listings for what each process is/does, if it is necessary, and instructions on how to disable if it is unwanted, like Uniblue's Process Library.
Assuming you are running Windows XP, here is a list of the default services settings. Note this will not include Compaq specific services which may be required for proper function of your notebook.
