Open it up and look at the capacitors. The round "tin can" looking components. If the tops appear bulged, then replacing them may help. Check out the YouTube video... and web site...

What flatscreen monitor is OK to substitute for sanpo alphascan 520?

Hi. Almost all the crt type monitors should work, it's flat screen monitors that seem to give computers problems with aspect ratios, and resolution settings.

I personally use an NEC AccuSync 70.
It might not be the newest monitor in the world, but the colors are crisp, clear, and bright.
And It allows a setting of 1024x768@85 hz refresh rate, which works great for my games.

As far as flat screens, I would probably go with an Acer, or a Dell monitor, as these two companies seem to have better quality from their monitors than most other manufacturers.

I hope this helps you out!

I have a Sampo S 1522 and the on/off switch will not always switch off the monitor. I need to press it multiple times to get it to turn off the display. Can the switch be changed? How do I get to it....

Cord unplug, on safe working table.

You have to open the back cover remove some of its screw, swivel base. Maybe some retaining clips. Detached the circuit board for space. Then your at it. Replace the switch with exact replacement. Then cover it back.

Be careful not to bend the board. Also nasty voltages inside it.

check for bent pins on the sub-D connector. flex the monitor cable while its turned on.. a cut wire will yield just a flickr. especially the H and V sync lines.

Try using a DVD player with Progressive Scan, it might work fine. I don't know what the problem can be but that's the only way I can see anything.

"No Signal" floating notice on Blue Screen - No other picture

If all connections and the tuner have the same issue, you either have a power supply issue or a bad digital board.

Sampo PME-42S6 black screen

I have the exact same problem and sent an e-mail to Sampo in Taiwan today (March 3rd) with a technical explanation and description of the problem you have reported. I included information on the status of the LEDs inside the unit. My suspision is that the power distribution board has developed a fault. I am going to try to find out if a schematic is available to repair the board or if a new board can be purchased. I will provide an update when I have one. Glenn

Screen blanks out

A digitalizing picture is most likly a bad connection on a screen driver cable or the driver itself is intermittant or the power supply has an intermittant filter on the substain B+ line. hope this hellps.

Do you have the right drivers installed for the display card? If not, update them. In addition to you may be using a network in which the administrator has blocked other users from accessing this kind of settings.
