    smilemaker,

I said my owners manual did not tell me how to reset the system, could you tell me how? That is my problem, the person I usually use to help with these things does not work on Saturdays and my store is open today and only going to get busier as the day goes on, it is a liquor store. Help me get going!

I still have not heard back from smilemaker, who told me to look at my owners manual. I do have one but it does not address the problem on how to reset or reboot my cash register. Please some one help?

I did as you suggested, but I switched the key to the Program settings as my machine does not have a Service Mode setting. I then followed your instructions, but it is still locked up.

    pauldonp,

First of all yes it is a Samsung ER-4915 cash register. Your ideas are making more sense now, because I have had to do this before, and have always had to hold down some keys and unplug and replug in the cash register for it to reset. My problem is I was walked through the steps so fast I do not remember them and they are not in the manual. I tried the above steps, but it is still in the same position. any othe ideas?

I have no off/on switch, the key can be turned to the off position, void, regular, x,z, or p for program position. When I have the switch in p I simply unplug from the electrical out let. My key pad is raised.

Message comes right away, but does make a small little noise like machine is trying to reset. The message is pp 0.00 right away. the key pad is locked up nothing works.

  • smid Mar 29, 2008

I put my ear close to machine and checked with key in every position, no sound. That little noise on seems to happen when the electricity is turned off and on.
Keep trying, but I know this is hard, this manual is difficult to read, but it does not have any thing about trouble shooting in it, only programing.
    Thanks for you help

just wanted to let you know my manual does not tell me how to reset.

  • smid Mar 29, 2008

We are very close. Yea! Yea! I did find a paper jam, I never thought of that. I cleared it out and did the steps above. The machine came back on and moved the paper forward on the rolls. I waited for a beep then turned key to regular, now the display says CLOSEd. All caps execpt the last letter.
Where do we go from here?

  • smid Mar 29, 2008

I did as you asked removed ribbon with Key in P position, then unplugged registar and turned it back on. The machine moved where the ribbon is, X,Z, and P all say 0.00 on display, but Void and Regular say CLOSEd.

  • smid Mar 29, 2008

Yes the number keys work, but when i hit one of the other keys the machine buzzes just like it does in normal operation when we have not hit the right key.

  • smid Mar 29, 2008

    pauldonp,
Thanks!! It looks like all systems are working now, the abc or d key I had never even used before. You solved my problem.
Thanks for all your hard work.

  • paul proctor Mar 29, 2008

Thanks for the info no buzzing sound tells us their no problem with the circuitry or the receipt side of things.

As for the manual you are right it dont give any help at all for this error your having.
Does the manual tell you how to reset or not as i dont have the full document i just wanted to check the correct procedure for reseting as i got the 2 different ways witch you have tried both.
If it does tell you then let me know
ill get back to you in few minutes and see what i can find out for you ok

  • paul proctor Mar 29, 2008

just letting you know im still here so you dont think ive give up on you ok just bare with me for few minutes ok

  • paul proctor Mar 29, 2008

    PP indicates a paper jam or Ribbon-foul up! First, you need to clear the cause, then you need to do a reinitialization;

    Turn
the ECR off, turn the Key stamped with a "P" to the "P" (program) pos'n
(clockwise to the 5 O'clock pos'n), hold down the "sub-total" key, plug
the machine in and continue to depress the "sub-total" key until the
printer-unit finishes cycling and the ECR "beeps!" Immediately turn the
key (counter-clockwise) back to the "REG" pos'n.

hi i know you all ready tried this but this way slightly different ok .
But make sure you keep button SUBTOTAL pressed down untill it bleeps then make sure you turn the key backwards to reg position.
Let me know the outcome of this hopefully were getting close to the problem now, i hope

  • paul proctor Mar 29, 2008

Also could you tell me if their is a till roll in the till

  • paul proctor Mar 29, 2008

Ok bare with me ok few minutes

  • paul proctor Mar 29, 2008

    Turn key to P position
    Remove ribbon from till
Turn off till, and turn back on.
let me know out come ok

  • paul proctor Mar 29, 2008

hi on the positions that say 0.00 do any other keys work.
Whilst waiting for reply ill have another look for you.

My understanding is that this machine needs to have the C button pressed multiple times, with the key set to control.

I have a Samsung er-4915. Somehow I reset the register. Is there anyway to retrieve the info

If I understand you correctly. Probably not, the system registry, If that is what you are refering to, cannot be retrieved. You could try a system restore to a date before this issue. It can't do any harm.

INH. OPEN PR showing on my sharp cash register, model ER-A470. all buttons frozen etc

If all buttons are frozen then you have a hardware fault. The clear button should remove any error from the display so if it doesn't work at all, you need to have the keyboard checked.

If anyone is having problems with programming on a Sharp ER-A470, the manual is here:

Hi. We are trying to get our machine to print our

Hi. It has the logo turned off if the Thank you message is displaying, so it won't display even if you program it. You might not have the service programming in your manual which you will need. There is a programming manual here:
http://the-checkout-tech.com/manuals/cashregisters/Sharp5.php
If you click on the preview button next to ER-A220_programming.pdf on the page, it will show you what the manual looks like and you can see if it is the same as yours. You will need a service key, but I can help you with that.
