Older programs will sometimes not work with Vista. This is likely the reason that Lego Island 2 (a 2001 game) will work a opposed to Lego Island (a 1997 game). There are a few things that you can try, though:

  1. Right click the 'play game' icon and select 'Properties'
  2. Click the 'Compatibility' tab at the top of the window
  3. Click the 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:' box and select Windows XP or Windows 98/Window ME (you can try another later if one doesn't work)
  4. Make sure that the 'Run this program as an administrator' box is selected.
  5. Click 'OK' and close the window
Give the icon the good ol' double click and see if she works. There's no guarantees that this will work with Vista since it is an older program, but this is where I would start.

I hope this helps!

The other way which worked for me is to copy d3drm.dll from your main cd to the install folder, probably C:/Program Files/Lego Island and it might be Program Files(X86). :)

You can install an AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port) video card. They come with different memory options such as 128 MB or 256 MB. The purpose of installing this type of video card is that it has it's own memory and processor dedicated just for the graphics.

I get the following error message trying to load Nancy Drew Danger on Deception Island... Incorrect path to ini file

You create a new folder, name it something like "deception" and save it. Then insert the disk and begin install, when it asks you where you'd like to install it, click browse, and install it in the folder you created previously. It won't work if you just install it in the recomended folder...

I PURCHASED LEGO ISLAND AND TRIED TO INSTALL IT ON MY COMPUTER WHICH HAS VISTA AND IT IS NOT WORKING. I ALSO CAN'T UNINSTALL WHAT DID GO ON.

what you need to do is run the programme in compatability mode for XP service pack 2, you can do this by right clicking on the desktop icon and choose the compatibility tab, if the game still won't work you may have to start the machine in safe mode (press F8 on boot up) to remove the programme

good luck

I have vista and the lego creator won't load. Is there something I can do to get it loaded.

I had a customer with a similar error in vista a few weeks ago

Here's how I solved the problem.

Firstly make sure you have the lates drivers installed for you graphica card

Secondly make sure you have the latest version of direct x installed, available for free here

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&displaylang=en

Uninstall the game, install the updates above, Re-install the game.

Make sure you have a shortcut on your desktop or you know where the game installs to.

Find the shortcut for the game or the main exe file.

Right click it, then left click properties

You should have a lottle window in front of you.
Look at the tabs that run accross the top. Find the one that says compatibility.

Then go down and check the box beside Run this program in compatibility mode for:
Highlight Windows XP (Service Pack 2) click apply and then ok

Run the game and it should be ok.
If not follow the above steps but nstead of windows XP select windows 98

Hope that helps
