Yes, but the difference is not that great (~14%) unless you are using huge applications.

Here's a tip to tweak it even faster.
Google RAMDISK
download the software
install it
set it to 32mb (I use z: drive)
*** Delete your Temporary Files First ***
Open IE or other browser
a: in IE TOOLS>INTERNET OPTIONS>Temporary Internet Files- Settings> Move Folder
b: Set Temp file to point to the RAM DISK (z:)
c: Close and restart Browser

You should notice a signifigant increase in speed.

Though this is a good and fast tweak there are two caveats
1: Good - your internet Temp files are emptied every time you log off or turn off the machine. Temp Files are a holdover from the days when we were using modems and web pages were slow to load, so it pulled them from cache, instead of downloading them everytime you went to a web page.

2: Bad - Some cookies you need may be sent to Temp dir, and require you to enter password if it was stored in a cookie.

Let me know how it worked if you use the suggestion above. My workstation (1.2 Duron) is now faster than production PC (2.4 Pentium 4) ---> browsing the net

More ram makes a difference in 2 ways. It helps improve the performance of "high demanding" programs ie: audio and video processing, and some advanced gaming, and it improves your ability to multi task and have your pc do many things at the same time, which also includes all of the applications that are running behind the scenes that may or may not show up on the taskbar at the bottom righ of your screen.
More ram will make all of the difference when it comes to more demading applications. Any software that you purchase or use will have minimum and recommended specs, including how much ram you should have, to operate that software effeciently. 1gb of ram shouold be enough for average pc users, but try to get as much as you can if you can afford it. XP has a minimum requirement of 256mb but recommends 512 I believe. Vista is recommended 1gb of ram at least. But if you are an average pc user for internet and documents and no demanding applications...1gb should do ya fine. Hope this helps.

If you use windows vista, the answer is YES.

if you use windows xp,
you can see your current windows's memory usage on task manager under performance, check on "PF usage", if that value is more than 1GB, upgrading to 2 GB, it will help. but if the value is less than 1 GB, by upgrading to 2 GB, you won't see any different.

Ya its definatly true that alaptop with 2 gb ram is better then a laptop with 1 gb ram
but it depends on situation and usage
if you r a graphic designer or a web designer or you r a gaming person with high loading on cpu in that case 2 gb ram will help more then 1 gb ram
but if you r a home user and using only office application and dail routine work on laptop then you might not need to spend more money on rame 1 gb is good inough for you

Can the LG Xnote RD405 laptop intially with 1gb RAM be upgraded to 4 gb using two 2gb RAM's ? Please help me by providing an answer clearly, Thanks in Advance.

Here is the memory specifications from LG.

Maximum Size: Each slot is 1024MB and can be expanded to 2048MB.
SO DIMM Type for Memory Expansion: DDR2 SDRAM SO-DIMM (256MB, 512MB, 1024MB)

It can take a maximum of 2 gigabytes of ram. It will take two 1 gb sticks. It uses DDR2 laptop ram. You need to check to see if you have one stick that has 1 gb or 2 sticks that have 512 mb each. That will tell you if you need to buy one or two sticks of ram at 1 gb each. You will be able to tell a difference going from one gb to two gb of ram. I think it would be worth the investment if you plan on using the computer for another year or more.

Upgrade my RAM from 1Gb to 2Gb everything is working but the cumputer still register 1 Gb of ram

Did you buy a 2GB ram stick or did you buy 1GB ram X2 so in your laptop you have only 1 stick of ram in there thats 2GB or do you have 2 sticks of ram in there which are 1GB if you have 2 sticks in there means one of them dead and is not registering it on your computer if you have only 1 stick in there thats 2GB but your system only reading it as 1GB then you will need to update your bios as it could be set only to read 1GB

I have 512 mg of memory. Would there be a big difference if I add a 1 gb stick and keep the 512 mb , as oppose to removing the 512 mb and replace with two 1 gb sticks?

The performance of your laptop will improve if similar memory is placed in each of memory slot.If 1gb memory and 512mb memory are placed in available slot you will only get the performance of a single 1gb memory.but two 1gb memory are used performance will be similar to a 2gb ram or more.

Could I use MacBook Pro 1G RAM (hynix 1GB 2Rx16 PC3-8500S-7-A1) to upgrade my T400 2G RAM to 3G?

Hello thx5,
It depends on how the 2GB in your T400 is currently configured. If the 2GB in there now is just one 2GB stick of RAM then yes you can add the other 1GB stick and then you will have 3GB of RAM installed. If your 2GB is two 1GB sticks of RAM (which is more likely to be the case) then the 1GB stick you have from your Macbook Pro isn't going to help.

Note: your laptop can handle up to 8GB of RAM via two 4GB sticks.

Hope this helps, if so please leave some good feedback. Thanks.

I have a ACEer 5315 model no ICL50 running Windows Vista. To say Vista is **** is an understatement. I want to switch to Windows 7 but guess I will need a lot more RAM for this. Can I upgrade Ram on this...

Hi,
I recommend that you switch to Windows 7 without upgrading your RAM. Windows 7 is a lot faster, better and uses less RAM than Vista. Recommended RAM for running Windows 7 is 1GB but I have installed them on a Centrino 1.5GHz with 768Mb of RAM and they run perfectly.
So make the upgrade to Windows 7 anyway and if you feel that you need more power then you can get more RAM.
Also, download Windows 7 upgrade advisor to check if your pc is compatible. Download upgrade advisor here.
