Low ink level after ink refill prohitting print function

I got my lexmark color cartridge refilled at Walgreen, they tested and cleaned it, I watched so I am sure of it. When we took it in, the printer warned of low ink level and stopped printing. Now it still won't print, says low ink level but it is not, even removed several times, cleaned with damp cloth. Will not even allow cleaning print head mode or print commands, always bringing up the low ink level box.

I tried this procedure 3 times, then took the cartridge out each time twice and this process, cleaned the whole cartidge all around with sightly damp cotton cloth, allowed time to dry but the program won't allow print, clean heads or anything else without the low level ink fault. Other people have gone thru the same dead end here with lexmark and HP mostly, the issue as I see it is to rest the physical circuit on on the cartridge, I'm tempted to remove it but not sure where it enters the cartridge to sense the level and it might eternally send the cartridge into absolute uselessness as oppose to the current relative uselessness .

The ink volume usually is controlled by the software that comes with the printer....You may want to re-install the software that came with the computer first.

How I can refill my HP 27 Cartridge at home...

Hi,

please follow the instructions........

  • 1

Purchase an ink refill kit that is specific for the HP 27 color ink cartridge. Look over the packaging to insure that it states that the kit is for the particular make and model. Using other types of cartridges may not work properly.

  • 2

Place several paper towels down to prevent any ink residue from damaging other objects. Place the ink cartridge onto the paper towels. Put on a pair of rubber gloves to prevent ink from staining hands.

  • 3

Peel off the top label gently from the cartridge.

  • 4

Observe the three holes that are located on top of the cartridge. There is a solo hole located near a rectangular tab that protrudes and two other holes located next two rectangular indentations into the plastic on the top of the cartridge.

  • 5

Take a toothpick and gently stick it down inside each hole to verify the color. Take a sharpie marker and mark next to each hole with the correct coloring for ease. Use "M" for the magenta color, "Y" for yellow and "B" for blue.

  • 6

Take a piece of masking tape and place over two of the holes to prevent ink spillage from mixing into other color positions.

  • 7

Read over the ink cartridge refill kit for the appropriate amount of ink needed to fill the syringe with the correct color for the uncovered hole.

  • 8

Expel any excessive ink from the syringe. Insure that you have the correct amount of ink by following the markers on the side of the syringe.

  • 9

Place a paper towel over the end of the syringe and while holding the tip upwards, gently press or tap the syringe plunger to expel any air.

  • 10

Insert the syringe needle into the appropriate color hole until the tip hits the bottom of the cartridge. Pull the syringe up a little from the bottom of the cartridge to prevent blockage when expelling ink.

  • 11

Expel the ink into the color hole slowly. Stop if ink begins to protrude out of the color hole. Take a cotton swab and gently wipe the outside of the color hole and then cover with tape.

  • 12

Take the syringe apart and rinse thoroughly to prevent ink colors from blending. Take a cotton swab and dry out the inside of the syringe.

  • 13

Repeat above steps for the remaining two color positions that are left.

  • 14

Gently take a needle and put a hole in each tape that covers the color holes for ventilation. Allow the cartridge to sit for at least one hour after completing refill instructions.

  • 15

    Reattach the original top label.

    Lexmark x5470

Let the ink settle in the cartridge for awhile. Make sure no ink is on the outside of the cartridge which adversely effects the signal to the printer.

My hP deskjet F4288 shows ERROR symbol

I would remove the refill. HP voids the warranty if the cartridge leaks. I have seen refills leak and destroy the printer. Replace with a brand new cartridge. If that is not the solution you want. You can remove the cartridge and clean it with rubbing alchohol and a paper towel or a q-tip, just make sure there is no fuzz left when your done. Also if you have the HP software installed on your computer, there is usually a cleaning program built into the software.

I need to know how to refill my ink in my printer

    Hi lisa40447,

It really depends on the make and model of your printer. But I would strongly go against refilling the ink cartridge because there is a very big possibility that you can damage your printer if you keep reusing a cartridge that has used up its life. The big problem with this is that the ink usually leaks out or "bleed" when cartridges are refilled and in turn this damages components inside the printer.

It's still a better option to just buy new ink catridges for your printers, since it is more expensive if the printer gets damaged due to usage of refilled ink cartridges.

    Hope this helps!

    Peace! :)

My lexmark 2500 printer won't print. I have a meeting in one hour and it's 45 minutes across town. My black ink cartridge is totally empty but my color cartridge is brand new. Do both cartridges have...

Both cartridges have to have ink them. I know that it sounds stupid, but that is the case. It's also a very bad practice to let your cartridge run completely out. By letting that happen you reduce the chance of it being successfully refilled. It can burn out the cartridges chip, as well. I wish that I had better news for you. Good luck.
