Question about Kenmore 54602 / 54604 / 54609 Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Problem Hi, I did find the sheets behind the kickplate of my kenmore refrigerator! They are in a language I don't understand since I am not a repairman. I do see the diagrams of the fridge and i'll go in and look for the defrost thermometer and heater clips, but how do i tell if those are the problem? How do I actually test them? Finally, please include the link to the sears parts that you referenced in your earlier email...you mentioned the link but did not include it and when I went to sears.com and typed in the model number for the fridge, it produced no results for a defrost thermometer. thanks

Replacing defrost timer,needs manuel

I check there is no free manual for Kenmore, I find. Better follow these steps to replace defrost timer.

Unplug the refrigerator. Locate the defrost timer. The timershould have four metal terminals coming from the bottom of the unit. It isusually situated behind the refrigerator, in the refrigerator's control panel, the freezer compartment toward the front of the cabinet or behind a metal kickplate on the bottom of the refrigerator. Older Kenmore models may have it builtinto the ice maker. Remove the defrost timer by takingoff the kick plate (if there is one) and removing any screws attaching it tothe refrigerator or freezer. Carefully pull the timer out from the wall of theunit so you can disconnect the wiring from the connectors. If removal isdifficult, try wiggling the connectors back and forth to help loosen them andpull on them firmly. Plug the wire connectors into thenew defrost timer and replace the timer in the refrigerator. Secure with screws, replace coverand plug in refrigerator.
Thanks and helpful?

I bought a new defrost timer. I can't find my defrost timer switch.

The model you posted ain't a good one. The timer is located inside the command console on a lot of these machines. Right behind the cold control. Another favorite place is behind the icebox on the lower right hand side. You will see the 2 mounting screws and the hold where you can manually advance the timer. Rarely but sometimes under the kickplate also.

Getting er 1f on refrigerator door. unplugged and replugged - fixed it be when door was opened it happened again

Hi,

1F means you have an issue with your fan motor cooling your icemaker--- usually this means you need to replace the fan motor. Until you can replace your fan motor turn off the switch for the icemaker, then flip the circuit breaker to off for a few seconds and turn it back on. The display should remain lit and operable, but you won't have an icemaker

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Kitchen aid refrigerator superba

hi there,

the drain pan is under the fridge behind the kickplate. the kickplate is the vent-line panel located under the door. it's held on by 2 screws. unscrew the screw and remove the kickplate. the drain pan will slide out. careful, as it's probably pretty full.

Refrigerator is freezing on the produce side

if you get frozen fresh food the air damper is not closing allowing too much freezer air to enter ff section, looks like an electronic controlled wide by side you have, ther should be a tch sheet with a troubleshooting guide behind the kickplate or pasted in an envelope under the front of refrig behind kickplate.
