Question about Toshiba 32AFX61 32" TV

Green picture with horizontal green lines...

I've been noticing over the past few months that my screen has started turning green, and has horizontal thin green lines. The thin green lines are more obvious when you turn the channel.

Now if I am watching the all martians netwrok then things are great, however I do enjoy other channels and the green is killing me?

So do I need a new TV or is there a simple fix?

Thanks for your help.

If this gets posted twice then my apologies. My wireless lost connection and I don't think it went through.

So to answer the first part of the question, my TV is not older than 8 years, but also not newer than 6.

As of very recently my TV has been having brown outs. Not a colour thing, but the TV looks like it is going to shut off but then comes back to its full bright green colour. Now when I say green I do have other colours that show up, but the overwhelming colour is a sick shade of green.

A malfunctioning ray gun?? Is that a martian shot or a real thing?

I wouldn't have the slightest idea how to solder something, never mind figuring out the circuitry? Now unless you are telling me that a monkey can do it, I think that I should consider taking this in? Of course it does weigh more than the combined weight of my fridge and stove!?!

Anyway I will keep you posted.

    Thanks again,

    John

My green lines appear approximately two minutes after turning on the set. The lines become darker green with a lighter green screen. Then the tv acts as if it is trying to correct the problem by going through picture gyrations. Then the normal picture snaps on and every thing is OK. Today, it did not correct until I unplugged the set and tried again. It is getting worse.

    Appreciate you thoughts.

John,

First, Id like to know how old is your unit? Also, the lines indicates in issue with regards to the lifespan of your tube. The dominant green color has something to do with a malfunctioning ray gun of your tube. However, i had encounter a unit that was resolved by simply resoldering the circuitry of same problem.
Why dont you try to resolder the board first.

Response is highly appreciated.

Green screen, white lines. Audio fine.

You most likely have a bad picture tube. Green gun is shorted. Usually a set this size is not economically feasible to put a new tube in. You may also have a green drive problem on the CRT board. Have a shop check it out for you before junking it. Thanks for using fixya.

T.V. screen is green with bright horizontal lights top to bottom

There are 2 possibilities of green screen in this model.
1- Driver circuit of green gun is defective. 2- Screen itself is defective.
Now I want to know, do you have TV repair experience and basic electronics knowledge to test and check above 2 sections in TV?

Green lines

Due to vertical section failure horizontal line apprears. You did not mention about picture. Green horizontal line means with picture or without picture. With picture means there is some leakage. Without picture only singe horizontal line means vertical section totally not working. Particularly green horizontal line means maybe leads to jungle ic failure. Please mention your simptom clearly what you get and what you will not get both video and audio. It will be helpful to answer. Based on your question this is my small information.

After a household power blips during bad weather, we have horizontal lines ....

Unfortunately there isn't any way to repair your tv as the magnet has distorted the tube that is in the tv and with CRT becoming obsolete the repair is likely to be very costly so probably your chaepest option is to buy a new tv .

Black screen with green smiley face

If your tv has a picture tube, your problem is in it. If you have only one line now,the vertical circuit is not working. You could have jarred something loose around the picture tube.Maybe a yoke lead ???

Green horizontal lines across screen

try adjusting the green screen control. remove the front bottom panel of the tv by removing any screws holding it in place. gently pull of the front panel, there are gromets holding it in place, you will be able to gently remove the front, just make sure you get all those screws. now reove the small wodden or plastioc panel. now you will see the screen/focus assy. check to see of the screen controls are the top 3 or bottom 3. adjusted the center screen it's the green one, the other 2 are the red & blue. it is best to adjust in a dark room where the lines will show up easier. good luck

Green screen with almost horizontal zigzag lines

Is good that you hit it and it reacts, very likely you have loose conections in different places but for the distorted picture you need to check the horizontal driver transformer and flyback after that is corrected you need to check the complete chassis for loose conections.Take your time.Good luck.

if the screen is real bright green with thin small white lines in it its probably a shorted picture tube. Or a shorted Green driver Transistor. Good Luck

yeppers its a g2 control on the flyback thats gone or drifted out of alighnment or the flyback its self.Try turning the g2 control dowm till those lines fade. If they wont go away then you need someone to check the Picture tube or its componets driving the crt.
