Unfortunately if you overheated your engine, you more than likely seized it up or did some serious damage to the pistion, rod and rings. Fill til the oil level is right, crank engine over and let run for about 30 seconds and re-check oil level. I will forewarn you though that if you overheated your engine and it shut down (probably abruptly I assume) you are going to need to have it rebuilt. Easy to do if you know about those things but expensive if you don't
