SOURCE: GE DPSR483EA Electric Dryer was making a scraping

The problem is something got between the drum and the felt seal between the drum and the front of the machine. You will have to pull the front off and find out what caused the felt to come out and then put the felt back in place and put the front back on.

The dryer squeals (metallic sound) while drying clothes.

check wear pads around front of drum or rear depending on brand. Ge's are particularly prone to scraping sounds, but still one of my preferred brands. IF a ge, did it get any dents around the sides or back? The drum is close to the sides and a dent in right place will do it. Also the rear panel can push the drum forward rubbing in front.
Ge - wear strips in front, plastic bearing in rear center, replace both, inexpensive.
Whirlpool- felt pad and wear strip in front, felt seal in rear with roller support. check rear seal lube rollers
Maytag -roller in front and rear with front and rear felt seals. some designs have front drum support posts with wear pads. ck these.
Frigidaire (include some sold under GE name) rear bearing cup (plastic)-lube, front feltpad with wear plates if plates gone get new pad/wearplate asm.
Maytag and ge nomenclature tags are in rear .

My GE Profile DPSE810 Electic Dryer has started making a scraping noise when the drum rotates. What could be causing the scraping? It makes the noise even if I take out all the clothes and there is nothing...

Told by several GE Service Techs that the noise is normal metal expansion & nothing can be done. Anyone else have this issue?
First dryer in over 40 years we ever heard this type of noise.

Ge dryer started making a loud rubbing sound

Sounds Like the drum is scraping. You can remove the drum and inspect the felt bearing/gasket for damage or a coin or screw that got lodged in it. You will need to remove Top and front in order to remove drum Carefully note the routing of the belt near the moter.

i know you say ge dryer but i think thats a frigadire inside ge dosent make an over under. When dryer off take your hand and go around the in side of the tub where it meets the felt seal.some times somthimes somthing will get caught between the turning drum and the felt seal causing a noise.if not that you have some wear problems and will have to take apart to inspect
