I need to restore prefetch data for free

There's no need to worry about prefetch data. They're automatically generated by Windows to help programs you use often launch faster. But in the counterpart, when this folder get very "big", it becomes an issue to the performance of your machine. That's why some "cleaning" programs propose to delete the prefetch files.

Tip

Tuneup utilities prefetch data deleted windows 7 slow

Basically, the prefetcher is a Windows component that speeds up the boot process and start times of programs by prefetching data.

I recommend you never delete the prefetch data.

If you or another program delete prefetch data or the folder, this can slow the computer down until the prefetch data is rebuilt. Windows rebuilds this each time on reboot and during program start ups.

If you are using a cleanup utility, turn off any options that delete prefetch data. In CCleaner, this option is unchecked automatically. TuneUp 10 does not have an option for prefetch data and does not seem to delete this data. You may receive a message when using the program that states, "prefetch data deleted" which is informing you the prefetch is empty.

Speed Up Windows XP in 5 Steps

Most of the times we observe that our system seems to gradually slow down. Here below i am listing five basic and easy steps
that can help you speed up your Windows XP computer.

1. Clear the Prefetch Folder :The Prefetch Folder contains files that keep getting stored on your computer whenever you launch any program or application. Deleting these files clears up space on your system that might have caused the slow down. Here is how you need to go about it.
Click Start..click Run..type Prefetch and click ok. The prefetch folder will open up. Press Ctrl and A together. This highlights the entire contents of the folder. Press the Delete key on the keyboard and confirm the deletion. Once done close the prefetch folder window. Now right click on the recycle bin icon on the desktop and right click and select empty recycle
bin and then confirm the deletion.

2. Disable Startup Items: Certain programs get initiated in the background as soon as your system starts causing the system to slow down. These programs are actually not required on startup but because they get initiated it affects the system performance. Here below i am listing the steps to take care of this issue. Please note this step is very effective and
enhances your system startup speed significantly.
Click Start...click Run...type msconfig and click Ok.
The System Configuration utility window will open.
Click on the Startup tab on the top right. Click on the disable all button. Once done, in the list above, you will see many options with checkboxes. Please check any option that indicates your antivirus program software and internet service provider.
Click Apply and Ok. Please restart the system once.Once the system reboots you will get a message coming up saying "You have used the system configuration utility...." Please check the option below that says" Do not show this message again" and click OK.

3.Clear the Temporary Files Folder: Certain temporary files get created as a cache of our activity on the system. Clearing these files from time to time also improves the system speed. Below are the steps for the same.
Click Start..Click Run...Type %temp% and click Ok.The temporary files folder opens.Press Ctrl and A together. This highlights the entire contents of the folder. Press the Delete key on the keyboard and confirm the deletion. Once done close the folder window. Now right click on the recycle bin icon on the desktop and right click and select empty recycle bin
and then confirm the deletion.

4.Clear Cookies and Temp Internet Files: As you browse the internet the images of the pages you view get saved on the system occupying space on the system. Clearing these files increases your system performance while on the internet.
Open Internet Explorer. Click on the Tools menu on top right. Click Internet Options. Click on delete button to delete cookies, files and browsing history. Click Apply and Click Ok.

5.Scan our system for infection: Your system might run slow in case its infected with virus, spyware, malware, adware, trojans etc. Here below i am listing a tool that you can download and run on the system Its free of cost and is very effective. It scans your system and cleans up any infection. Click on the below link to download the tool. The link that opens up also has a tutorial on running the tool in case you face any difficulty.
Download Combofix Tool

With the above 5 steps, your system speed should surely get enhanced.

You can delete all the files from below location. Dont worry this files are waste space consumption. You are not going to loose you data by deleting them.

What is the internet speed you have.

To increase the speed.

Click Start - run - temp click OK

Delete all files.

Click Start - run - prefetch click OK

Delete all files.

Click Start - run - %temp% click OK

Delete all files

Disable your antivirus program and see the speed.

Make sure you remember you passwords on the internet. Like your bank and emails password. Else dont try the below steps.

Open internet explorer. Click Tools - options - Go to Advanced Tab Click Reset, which will be at the very bottom.

This should fix your issue. If there is any problem on the system. Else contact your internet provider.

Tuneup utilities says that prefetch data deleted, but when i explore the hard disk i find it i suffer from slow startup windows 7... i tried everything but still slow

Hi,

This is expected.

1. Turn off the option to clean the Prefetch in Tune-Up Utilities

2. Windows will just need to re-create all the prefetch files again, thereby slowing down Windows during boot and program starts until all the new prefetch files are created
