Question about LG LRFD25850 French Door Refrigerator

1 Answer

Freezer door Our freezer door came off. It pulled right up. In the manual, it says you can take off the door this way. But it doesn't tell you how to put the door back on. Does anyone know how to pop it back on?

The right hinge is off on mine - I can ALMOST pop it back but the bottom "latch" will not go into place. I think removing the left side would allow me to tilt it ... but unsure. As it is today is more or less works if you really watch that right side when you close it.

Will look for manual to see if it describes removing/reattaching and report back (if I can find it)

If you have the tilt door, the hinges on it are just like that of a oven. You would put it on the same way you would your oven door. If it is not a tilt, there is hooks that go on to the side rails and two screws to hold it in place.

I can't remove the freezer drawers from my Whirlpool Gold Model # GI5FVAXVB02. Called the company and they couldn't help me.

you have a blocked drain, try this, pull out the machine, unplug it,remove the bottom panel, lie on the floor and with a light look up or feel around, there's a nipple that's there that the water drains out of or drips through,i've been removing the nipple, running it under water to clean it,but it has to go back,if you don't put it back you'll have problems, this keeps the warm air from getting into the freezer, before you put it back on get a hair dryer and melt out the ice, just heat up the back freezer wall and then pour hot water down through the back wall,if the water drains out you don't have to take the freezer draws and racks out, they changed them all around and i can't explain how to do it and if you pull it out and don't line the two wheels up correctly the door won't close right,i mark them with a marker before i pull them out,it sucks to do and is very ridiculous, you need a manual just to remove these parts,if this doesn't have a nipple on it and has a drain hose there you can try to clean it out from that end,you can get a piece of 1/4 in water line like they use for the water lines on the fridge, buy a piece and snake it up through the drain hose and then blow through it then flush water through the back inside freezer wall, slime builds up in the drain hose on all machines so once it's freed up it will drain, you might think that if you go from the back you'll push it up into the freezer and it will happen again it won't,once you hit it and free it up it will break apart and every time the machine defrosts the water will wash any parts that is still in there out.i'll try to see if i can find any videos on line for you to show how to remove the shelves and racks and then to line them up again but try going from the back first.good luck.

Samsung rf217acrs frost in freezer

I have the same samsung with the same problem. I had a repair company come out. What is happening is you are not opening the freezer door correctly and not pulling the tray out all the way. It is a design problem with the door. You must pull it out from the center of the bar and pull it out all the way for it to align correctly and then the door will close correctly. I was getting frost on the right side roller and top area if I don't do it correctly. There is nothing that can be done I am told. You must not pull from the side of the handle. It works fine now. Try this and see if it helps.

The freezer door is canted and the right side of the door will not close completely. When you put your hand by the door seal on the right side, you feel cold air escaping. Also causing the frezzer to ice...

Sounds like it's come off the rails, empty it completely trays & all. pull it all the way forward & lift it up it should fall or you may have to gently drop it back into position.

if frost is on the back wall you have a defrost problem, bad defrost thermostat, heater or depending on your model a bad timer or board.also when you open the freezer door you should hear the evap. fan blowing around, this is what blows the cold air from the freezer to the fridge section.a common problem with bottom mount refrigerators is the door doesn't close all the way, warm air gets into it and then the air ducts freeze up and the fridge is warm.if this was the problem you would have ice on the ceiling, frozen water droplets on the packages and maybe ice on the top of the door where the air was getting in but if it's on the back wall it's a defrost have to remove everything out of the freezer, remove the door and basket, then remove the back inside wall of the freezer, either put the machine into defrost,if it has a timer advance it or if it has a board you can pull off the bottom kickplate and there should be a tech sheet,it will tell you how to put the machine into defrost,if the heater doesn't come on you'll need a meter to see what part is bad, also you need to melt all the ice off of the evap coil and check the parts.if you send the model number i can look up your machine and see what parts are in it and i can help you out better

Refrigerator side is barely cool. Defrost light on for over a week, but unit is self defrosting??? why is ref section cooler not performing?

you have a defrost problem?all a fridge does is blow cold air from the freezer to the fridge section, when you open the freezer door you should hear the fan blowing, under the fan there's the evap coil, this is what makes everything cold,if it doesn't defrost it gets covered with ice and then you have problems or on some models there's a damper and the door doesn't open stopping the cold air from blowing into the fridge'll need a meter, pull out all the food in freezer, remove all shelves and then remove the inside back wall of the freezer.with a hair dryer melt out all the ice, then find the bad part, defrost thermostat, defrost heater, bad timer or board depending on the modelwith the meter you can check the parts.also if you look down at the bottom kickplate, pull the kickplate off and look for a tech sheet,it will tell you how to put the machine into defrost, also next time send the model number so i can see what model you have,if you have a timer advance it and see if the heater comes on,also it doesn't hurt to change out the thermostat while you're in there and alot of times this is the problem, you can cut the two wires going to the thermostat located on top of the evap coil, connect them bypassing the thermostat, put the fridge into defrost, listen for a crackling sound,if you hear this the heater is on and you'll know the thermostat is bad, call your parts store, give them the model number and they will sell you the correct thermostat,if the heater doesn't come on remove the heater on the bottom and read it out with the meter,if it's not a glass heater most likely the heater will be good but check it anyway with the meter.if that's good then most likely you'll have a board problem depending on the model.hope this helps and good luck.

call back whoever you ordered the parts from and tell them they sent you the wrong parts,if you gave them the model number off of the machine they should have sent you the right parts.what did the repair man tell you to do?also next time send the model number so i can look up your machine,if you don't have the model number you won't get the right parts.

The alarm usually is telling you that the temperature inside the freezer is not low enough. Check the door seals with dollar bill. Shut the door on the bill and try to move it. Try all around the door. The bill should resist being pulled out. If you can't pull it out the door is too tight. If it comes out easily you have an air leak. you can adjust a freezer door by loosening the hinges, pushing the door into place and re-tightening the hinge.

How do you adjust the doors to closed completely?

The lower hinge on each door may have a door closing cam. It raises the door up ¼ inch when opening and this assist in closing the door. If it’s wore out and doesn’t work the door may not seal and the gasket can be damaged. Watch the operation of the door to see if it rises up when opened.

Leave the door shut and let the magnetic gasket hold the door in place. Put something between the bottom of the door and the floor to hold it in case it slips.
Remove the bracket holding the pin and hinge assembly taking note of order of removal of parts. Slide new cams on. You probably need two.

Condensation inside top near the center

Check your owners manual to see if your model has an "energy saver" switch somewhere. That switch turns on or off the heating around the doors to prevent moisture/condensation, etc. If it does, take it off the energy savings mode and put it in the other mode (energy savings means the heater is off to save a tiny bit of electricity over the years time). Also use a dollar bill and close the door on it to see if you can pull it out with the door closed, it should be a slight pull to remove it if the gasket is sealing right. Do this around the whole door a couple inches at a time and see if you have the same friction on pulling the bill out the sealed door.
