The desk drive in a Wii is known to go out. It might be time for a new drive mechanism. These can be purchased online and installed by the end user if you are good at this sort of thing. If not and you are in warrenty send it back to Nintendo for replacement. The other option is to sell it on ebay as broken. They fetch a really great price. Sometimes very close to retail.

Mega CD 1 loading problem

Yes, but get ready to take it apart. The gears are out of alignment that operate the CD mech, and also dried out. Lithium grease helps it, keeps everything lubricated well. When you hold it vertically the things all move on the inside slightly but they go back again when you set it back down. Look at any washers and where gear shafts or other parts sit.

Disc spins excessively fast and program won't start

Take a can of air and blow some air gently into it. Could be a dust problem on the laser. After this then try and load the game again, if it doesn't work still, then its a weak laser and you'll have to get the drive replaced

My PS2 won't spin a disc

try both audio and game disks if it will not turn the disks then the motor hub on the ps2 is shot if it will play the audio cd and not play the game then the laser is out of alignment but if you hear it spinning it could also be a burnt out laser as well further information would be required to diagnose this issue further.

Not loading game

the reason it makes the "grinding" noise is because the motor that moves the lens to read the disk is dieing, this generally happens when you have played your ps2 for a long time, this only happens to older consoles.

PS2 Makes Sounds and Keeps Pausing Games

Hi Ebridges2,

The Game your playing is probably a Blue colored media.  That is ones that spin so fast.  You console has become dusty and loaded with lint probably.  You can open the case and clean up the insides. Also while your in there, remove the ocver and polish up the lasers lens.  This will probably get you back in business. If you do nto have success, contact me at Repairtech@ playstationclinic.com   I run The Playstation Clinic at www.playstationclinic.com  If you have a Slim Model it will cost more than the big model to repair.  The slim model is $41 full refurbish including return shipping inside the USA.  The big Fat PS2 Versions are $36 including return shipping.

You cant replace the drive they are locked to the motherboard!( wont work on other motherboards) Well you could spoof it to think that the new drive is the original. This is not easy stuff to do 1 mess up and you have yourself a 400.00 paper weight or a bricked drive.

You could open it up and try the rubber band trick, that's for modded boxes that are having trouble reading certain media types"discs".

Remember if you open your 360 you void the warranty.
