The battery could be getting lower (even though its a rechargeable mouse). it could be going dead. how long have you had it?

What I do to make it work on my xp, vista, or w7 computers is to first plug in the usb device then push the button on the device and move the mouse. if that doesn't work, then I open the battery case and remove one of the batteries (with batteries closest to you, the one on the right has the positive + terminal closest to you). Now when I move my mouse it works every time (if the batteries are charged)
