Question about Fisher and Paykel 23 in. DD-603SS Built-in Dishwasher

Top dishwashing drawer won't close

We did a wash last night and once unloaded the top drawer will not close. I think it is the lid that provides the water tight seal for the washing compartment.

Is there a code that I can punch in to completely retract the lid to allow room for the drawer to close.

Thanks...Bob Brogan

Hi Mr Brogan,

Unfortunately there is not an easy way to get the lid to lift. Each drawer has 2 motors per lid. When one of the motors fail it keeps the lid stuck in the position it failed in.

If you have service out to replace the lid motors be sure the replace them as a set and not just the one that failed.

Let me know if you have questions.

Fisher Paykel drawer stuck closed how to fix.

Turn the mains power off and force pull the drawer slowly.. No jerky movements. The lid seal is stuck. Once open, check for any damage to lid seal by running fingers on the underside of the top of cabinet where the drawer slides in. Turn mains power back on. If the drawer does not slide back in then it is likely the lid seal actuator motor is stuck or power to motor has failed. Will need technician involvement to fix. If lid seal looks torn then it will need to be replace. Can cause leaks and further faults otherwise.

Why won't my top drawer start

I am assuming you have a double drawer unit DD603. A drawer will not respond when you press Start button for several reasons. Assuming the panel lights are on, there could be a problem with the lid seal motor or the sensor that detects drawer is closed or blocked outlet hose or dirty panel. Take a damp clean cloth and wipe the inside of the drawer door panel. The dishwasher is very smart and checks for the condition of the dishwasher before starting. If turning off the mains power and turning it back on does not change the situation you will need a technician to attend to it.

Top drawer of my 8yr old fisher paykel dishwasher got stuck opening and now cant get it back in , botom drawer works but no power to top drawer can it be fixed ?

Not sure if your dishwasher problem has been fixed yet.

The lid seal actuator motors on the top drawer are stuck due to lack of power and therefore you cannot close the drawer. Don't try to force it in as this will cause damage.

First thing to do is to restore power to the drawer. The power comes from the filter board sitting at the base of the dishwasher. You will have to disconnect power to the dishwasher and get both the drawers out. This will give you access to the power filter board.

Refer item 15 in this diagram. It is likely the board is faulty and it supplies the lid seal actuator motor power to both drawers. (separate connections).

You have to take the front cover of each drawer out to remove the drawers from the rails. But be careful not to damage the cable and hose when pulling out. Keep a chair or something next to dishwasher to hold the top drawer.

Once you fix the filter board and restore power to actuator motors, push the lid seal up by hand to make sure it does not block the lid.
Hope this fixes the problem.

Dishwasher lid stuck

the lids on dishdrawers are pulled down and sealed by lid activaters. there r two types, the screw type and the magnetic solonoid type. the reason your draw gets stuck is your lid activator is not releasing. there are 2 reasons for this 1st- 1 or both activators are faulty. 2nd the lid activator control board is faulty, which is located under the bottom drawer.pull the draw out and see if u can see if the lid is down on 1 side or both sides.please reply 4 more help.

Top drawer obstruction, can not close.

Pull out the drawer.at the bottom near the front panel at both sides, press the square tabs in and pull the drawer further. When you have the clearance from the edge of the drawer, lift it up out of the rails then put it down to floor. It may not be the hose. I think the top lid seal is sagging down causing the resistance. If this is a case, you need to replaces both actuators to lift up and down the lid to overcome this problem.
Good luck.

F1 with a spanner message

F1 indicates a leak. It could be that you got some water down below the drawer into the pan. This is where the sensor is located. If you pull the drawer out you will see the water. They are pretty sensitive to any water. Also you might have a leak because the bottom drawer lid is not sealing properly.
www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html has a video on replacing the seal if it is a problem.

Our Fisher & Paykel single dish drawer unit (6 months old) is leaking limited water from its base down the front of bottom drawer below the unit's base onto the kitchen floor. One inspection by a...

One drawer leaks can cause this problem. If you don't fix it. One day it will turn on the pumps from both units without any one touching them since the floor sensor at the bottom housing detects water and it will run for ever until you unplug the power cord. This dishwasher is a state of art in design and replacing parts is very simple once a person has enough understanding of its mechanism. If the tech fail to find the problem then he is not qualified to touch this dishwasher. When there is a leak, it is a problem with the lid seal from the top not closing down tightly so during the wash cycle, water shoot up and leaks through the top opening then collecting on the bottom housing of each unit. Let say the top draw is leak, so the bottom housing of top draw if full of water then it overflows to the bottom drawer unit then the floor. Here is the idea of how it happens. The top lid is pulled down by 2 actuators from both sides at first start. That is why you can hear the motor noise turning on at the beginning of the wash cycle. That is the noise from the actuators. If the actuators are bad. only one side works then the lid can not be sealed properly there is a leak. If bothe of actuators are week the gear worn out so they can not hold the lid down during the wash cycle then it can cause a leak. You can pull each tube out and access from the left side at the bottom to touch the bottom housing to fell the wetness. Put in tower to dry them out. If there is a weteness from the bottom housing upper tube it doesn't mean the bottom drawers is leaking. It is wet just because the top is leaking. However you have to dry the bottom in order to continue use the bottom dryer. If you ignore my advice then your circuit board at the bottom housing of lower drawer will be damaged and it is not cheap. With the information that I provided you can interview a tech claiming know about the this type of dishwasher before letting him coming into your house. Good luck.

My drawer won't stay closed during the wash cycle.

It would be nice to know what was fixed from recent broken. I guess the lid seal and/ or the Lid actuators were replaced.

Anyway,
1-The drawer didn't close because there are 2 plastic latch door at the end of the rail on both sides did not latch. There is posibility they are broken since plastic are brittle after time. Or the springs were poped out so the latch didn't engage. To check this the inner tube has to be removed to inspect.

2- Feeling like going to the bump when closing the drawer because the sagging rubber seal from the top lid pressing again the top groove of your inner tube when closed.

These symtoms need to be addressed since it is very near for a coming problem: Leaking then the Unit doesn't funtion any more.
Why
either the seal is out of its place to press again the groove, or there is a problem with actuators causing the top lid sagging down. It is also possible that the Top Lid is falling out of its snapped position from left and/or right arm unless it unproperly installed. Good luck in finding.

RE: Fischer paykal F1 code

F1 fault means the flood switch on the base of the dishwashers has been activated.
nine times out of ten its the lid motors.
You can remove the two kick plates on the bottom of the dishwasher.
Dry out the water in the base with a sponge.
only one draw will be leaking water??
This allows you to use the second draw until a serviceman shows up.
Dry the base out A.S.A.P, because you have a electronic board that sits on the base. cheers

Sounds like the lid is not opening all the way. Rubber may be coming off lid seal during opening and closing. Check you lid actuators replace both right and left if needed.
